OK guys, I believe I am really ready to buy my TV now. My girl has a Dell account with a $2500 limit and she said we can charge something that is $1500 or less and that way we can pay it off by year's end. So, suggest any models that Dell currently has please. Thanks a lot! FWIW, I'm liking this one: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A1268404
does her Dell account have interest free, becuase a lot of places like Frys and CC are offering up 12-24 months interest free. I got my TV at CC after price matching it to Frys. HL67A750 @ 1839 before taxes.
Are you willing to wait until late November? If so, there's always huge deals on electronics during Black Friday. I bought my Sharp Aquos after Thanksgiving at Circuit City for a pretty decent price. You can apply for credit instore and get approved, depending on your credit, the same day. The deal I got was no interest for 18 months.
We're not really looking at interest when we're planning on making only 2-3 payments to pay it off. We definitely don't want to open up new accounts.
Also the problem with Dell is that you're really going to be overpaying. They don't price match as far as I know and their prices on TV's are far from competitive.
To be honest, the ones that I am looking at that are on special and did include a 12 month no interest special.
That's a good deal on the Sharp. here's a link to more tv deals: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/sna.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~topic=usa_offers
Any suggestions? I also noticed that can be added on: 3Yr Ext Warranty w/ Belkin HDMI Cable, Cleaning Kit, & Surge Protector Worth it?
At what price point is a display model a good buy? I saw a Pioneer Plasma Kuro (last year's model) for almost 50% off for the display. Looked like it was in still good condition except for a small red pixel dot in the screen that is only visible up close and only in certain pictures. I presume this was a dead pixel.
No. You can go and buy those items somewhere else. Especially the HDMI cables, you can get them cheap. monoprice.com I spent about $50 on my surge protector.
was it display model? That's probably a good deal since the life of those plasmas are about 60,000 hrs +
The price was an additional $380 for the warranty, surge protector, cable, and cleaning kit. I always hear get the warranty when buying a computer is the same not true for TVs? I thought many people recommended it on this board. I must admit, I saw a lot of surge protectors on sale at Wal-Mart for prices from $10-50 and they were name brands like Phillips and such.
Computer, that would be a good idea, but a name brand LCD TV usually doesn't screw up. You have a manufacturer's warranty anyways. this is what I have for surge protection, probably overpaid for it too, but it's fine. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=3511257&type=product&id=1051384462217
Very nice Samsung TV, my friend works at Big Lots and they just got 2 of those models in for $1159. Only 2 stores got them, one on westheimer and gessner and the one on hwy. 6 and w. little york.
I'm in the opposite boat of computer warranty vs TV. PC's have easily replaceable components that can be done by the consumer. video cards, hard drives, memory, sound card. All can be found cheap and can be easily replaced. I can't say the same about that for a TV. *shrugs*
I've never had a tv go bad ever. but I don't buy cheap brands. for surger protectors, you can get the more expensive ones if you have more expensive audio equipment cause those things are expensive and take up lots of power. this is pretty good: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10839&cs_id=1083901&p_id=4153&seq=1&format=2
Any others on that sale list I should take a look at or should I go with the Sharp? I am assuming Sharp is one of the good brands that you all would put up there with Sony and Samsung, correct. What's the life expectancy on the models?
I ended up reviving this dead APC UPS. I don't know why I didn't think of it before but I put a replacement battery in it. I just have too much junk lying around. I guess I've seen a lot of bad LCD screens and monitors at work and once they are out of warranty we just have to buy a completely new one where as the computers go out and we have spares we can use from the PC cemetary.
