they won't supply you with the hdmi cable. you have to do that yourself. don't you have a whole bunch of av inputs?
I see a bunch of audio inputs but only one red/yellow/white hookup. I don't know what all these hookups are for. LOL! I might just have to take a pic and post it on here.

I would wait until your TV provider comes. My parents (Dish Network) gave them the component cables and I had to buy the HDMI cables. IF this is the case with you, you could just use those component cables. My provider (comcast) gave me the cables but their crappy box has no HDMI so I am still using them. I thought about going with the DVI-HDMI cable that their box can use but never got around to it.
u-verse guy gave me one HDMI cable but for some odd reason it wouldn't allow me to do 1080i from the tv box. Once i switched it out with one of my other HDMI cables the display was working in 1080i instead of 720p. Weird.
oh by the way, that is NOT an HD input, that's 480i. So if your cable guy DOES connect you via those cables, then hit him with a baseball bat! only the hdmi and component cables (red/blue/green) are HD
is there any actual benefit? My HD box only has DVI so I would have to buy that cable to get rid of my analog cables.
yeah it's better its all digital video. you can get them cheap here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10231&cs_id=1023102&p_id=2286&seq=1&format=2
tinman, since you're the resident expert and got me into the HD world a fews years back, can you check out the two LCD TV's below and let me know which one is the best. Keep in mind, this is for my parents, and it will be their first big screen TV, and first time into the HD world. These are the two links my mother sent me. She also has a coupon for 10% of sale price and an additional $100 off any purchase over $499.00 in store. Sharp 52" Samsung 46" Thanks buddy!
I have no idea. She received it for buying an iPod. I just bought my second LCD TV over 46" from them and they sent me nada.
Tinman, I've been meaning to ask you about calibration. I posted my settings on AVS a while back and everyone hated it. I personally love my settings and I'm not a tool, so will not be changing it regardless of what anybody says. For TV/Sports I use Samsung's dynamic setting with DNIe on. Most videophiles will never touch the dynamic setting at all. I've tried other settings on standard and movie modes and the picture looks so dull. I admit it may seem more realistic with the skin tones and the proper shadowing, but it's just not "in your face blow your eyes out" HD that I love so much. I don't have a problem with my blacks being washed out. If an item is black, it's black, why do I need to see some gray areas? I guess I'm trying to ask what's so bad about using that setting. I have it right now at on Cool 1. Standard is just not vibrant enough for my tastes and the Warm settings are ghastly. When I watch movies, however, I use the Standard mode with Warm 1, calibrated properly of course. The picture is absolutely stunning. But when I watch regular TV shows and sports I need that "pop" you experience with those TV's displayed in stores.
I know where you come from. Movies should be calibrated, but regular hd/sports is tough. Black level is more important in movies, for example "The Dark Knight, Blade etc" I went to a tv place with a friend looking at tvs, he did notice that the Elite plasma's picture was 'darker'. They were showing the Texas/Kansas game. The salesman says, you know that game was cloudy and overcast right? so it shouldn't be bright like it was a sunny day. I like more 'pop' in the picture, but I think flesh tones are important. Ernie Johnson shouldn't look like he's got a tan from Brazil.
