Parker as part of the top five? I gotta disagree. That kid is streaky as hell and is a good passer, not great, and not a very active rebounder. I'd put Payton ahead of him, hell even Cassell.
He is a talent. And I would not trade him. Hopefully he will adjust to the new coach and become a point guard. He is probably the most athletic point guard in the NBA. He is one of the toughest point guard in the NBA. He has the highest verticals. He is probably the best dunker out of all the point guards. He is probably one of the strongest. He is actually a good passer....if you give him a direct target. He is a good ballhandler and dribbler. He is a good shooter. I think he shoots better than Jason Kidd, Baron Davis, Gary Payton, and Andre Miller. He is the coolest point guard!! He is the most popular point guard in the NBA. Man.....he's great. He has a lot of endurance. He is hardworking...he is the best scoring point guard...best rebounding point guard...one of the best point guards in steals...he's just great!! but he also leads the NBA in total turnovers! 1. Steve Francis. 1. Jason Kidd 3. What point guard is 20-6-6-3? Only him! He is elite!
I believe Steve has all skills to be best point guard. But we must know, basketball is a team game. if you can't make your teamates play better, you will never be a best one.
I hate when critics say Nash Bridges is a top 5 pg. He is a OK passer and plays with the ptl to the mtl but he has no real athletesim and no real D. He is alot like Bibby and Parker benafeting from being surrounded by better players than themselves. Put them on other teams and their numbers will drop bigtime. Steve is a baller and brings more to the table(completegame) than most players let alone pgs. What makes a player great is the ability to affect the game in several diff. ways and do it consitantly over a long period of time. Steve is on the way................I hope
Guys... why in the world are we mentioning Kidd, Payton, Francis, Nash, Marbury, etc... This thread is about the piontguard position. and I thought you guys knew your basketball...
oh ya I forgot.. The only team who really had to worry about Starchild was SA. Yes he is good but I think opposing teams worry about facing Steve more than Steph. If you haven't noticed as Steve goes the Rox go. Steph has more help to deflect the gameplan.(2 stud fowards and a former allstar sg just to start) Teams don't tripple team Steph but they do Stevie.
Take that all you Franchise haters! This is the perfect defense of Stevie. Great post B Kidd is better now, Francis and Marbury are even, but Francis is younger and will get better than them both. Tony Parker - are you f***ing kidding me!? That guy will never even be half the player Steve Francis is. He's not that good, it's just he got exposure from being on the Spurs.
If i had to give the reigns to any pg regardless of age, it would be gary payton. Why? He does everything very good even as a pg. He can score, rebound, defend, pass and is a leader. If the games on the line, who would you want with the ball? My Money is on Payton,Kidd, then Marbury to make the right decision.
Nash isn't athletic, but the guy never seems too tire. I wouldn't say he's the best PG in the league, but definitely top 5. I think he's the best PG at running the pick and roll and also has the best jump shot. I would argue that Nash's points would go up on another team. If you've ever seen him play a great deal of his shots are very difficult to most players (see Jeff Hornacek), but too him there easy. On another team he would get to hoist up more shots. Back to Francis, Francis is better than Nash but he's not the best in the league...yet.
I think Steve is the most athletic PG and thus gets a lot of rebounds, but I think Kidd is actually the better rebounder. Regarding TOs, you also neglect to mention that Jason Kidd led the league in assists. If Steve led the league in assists, you wouldn't here the complaints about his turnovers. BTW there's a reason people criticize Steve. He's one of the games stars, but he could be a much better player. He's more athletic than any PG in the league and he also has a 7'5 big man that can play.
As much as we hate him, Marbury is at least the 2nd best PG in the league, and possibly the best. Look at his numbers. He had an injury to start the season, and played on it for the whole season. He took 2 games from the Spurs on his own, and he took the Suns to the playoffs on his own. He is the same age as Steve, which is about 5 years younger than Kidd and I think 6 years younger than Payton. If you're asking who played best last season, it has to be Marbury. Who's labelled selfish and has 8 assists to go with 25 points? Jeez-a-loo, where's the respect for THIS guy? In terms of best player at the PG position last year, I'd say it's a tie between Marbury and Kidd. In terms of who you would pick based on talent/age for your franchise, it would be Marbury or Steve. But the ONLY reason Steve is in on that contest is because Marbury's image is tainted. Steve is still learning. I guess it's ok for him to be a notch below Marbury, since he has (I think) 2 years less NBA experience than Marbury.
The last time I asked a girl "where are you live?" was when I was talking to a nurse after surgery with about seven vicodin in me.
I don't know about Nash Bridges as a point guard, but I know Sonny Crocket was an All-American wide receiver before he blew out his knee. j
