Well, the original title of it was The Clansman. Basically, the KKK are the good guys and freed slaves are the villains.

In the General, the confederacy wins a battle and a the main protagonist is a confederate, which loses some points for me, but it's supposedly based on a true story, so I'll cut it some slack, also, unlike many modern films and TV shows, it actually has folks of color.
That may have been scary a half-century ago, but man, what a yawner it is today. I haven't seen the remake, although I've heard that it's even worse.
