I will not compare this offseason to the lotto teams that acquired Sampson, then Dream and then Yao...again, those were no brainers because you have to take the stud in the draft. We were fortunate to receive the best player three times over a 17-18 year period...nuff said about that.

However, we've never taken a 50+ win team from the previous season and stock piled it with more weapons to make it quite possibly a 60-win team for a long playoff run without giving up significant pieces from the rotation. It's never happened before ever! You do not add a Francis, Scola, James and B. Wells to a team with Yao, T-Mac and Batman and not be expected to kick some ass and take some names! Not to mention, I feel we upgraded the 1 chair position as well in getting Adelman to replace JVG. So far this offseason has cost us JHo...the player we've been wanting to ship out of town for a few years now...can you believe that???? And it cost us a pathetic complainer who was clearly not ready to be a baller...all I can say to V-Span is adios and good riddance.

Now, If we are playing in the finals come June '08...without question...it's the best ever offseason. This team is now just like a fresh pot of my wife's gumbo...all the ingredients just have to simmer for the right amount of time...and it's going to be a joy to behold! You can no longer have a conversation about the "big 3" in the west and have us excluded from that list. Even ESPN is showing us some love...best offseason moves by any team and that was before the Franchise returned hom.

This is the best off season in the last ten years.

    Top ten all-time.

Can we hear from some of the folks who voted for "Average" and "Horrible"?

I'd love to to be further educated courtesy of their takes. :p

Yummy. Gumbo! I have a Cajun brother-in-law who is a superb cook, and makes a killer gumbo. And some NOLA expatriates opened a great little place in a strip center on Brodie Lane in South Austin. Wonderful! It was packed last night. Sorry for the tangent. (man, that shrimp was good! hard to get good shrimp in Austin without paying an arm and a leg)

Quite the opposite! Adelman has a great record, and had a great record with Clyde. Look at all the great stars that never won a championship, and great coaches, for that matter. Clyde got lucky when he was traded to the Rocks. Many do not. I'm very, very happy with Adelman.

Well, it was the best in terms of the expectations were at the lowest this offseason and we were surprised beyond suprised in the highest level every 5 days for a month now. We basically had more holes than a water fountain at the ok corral at the beginning of the summer and just a 26th pick and the mid level exception. Not to mention we had a rookie GM that come on let's be truthful worried us with all this "moneyball" talk....but, now moneyball has a positive endearing ring to it. Then week by week Morey started surprising us, first shipping out the player I thought we could never trick other teams to get him off our hands and we managed to do that AND get back the poiint guard that we had mistakenly traded for ...for Rafer. And, then Bonzi decided to stay and dedicate himself because of Adelman. Of course, the 26th pick drew a lot of anger....but as the summer went on, that turned out to be a pleasant surprise as Brooks tore up the summer league. Then, the biggest shocker in my opinion was grabbing the best power forward in Europe from our in-state rival for Vagisil, which every sports writer has called a robbery. To cap it off, we bring back our hometown son that we had to sacrifice to get Tmac for peanuts and a brand new attitude promising that he's about winning and not "stats." Of course, there are all the Rafer for Haslem rumors to tickle our fancy. It's just been the funnest piece by piece offseason we've ever had. I don't think I've checked the internet so religiously for news more than this summer because almsot every week, there's been great news. I don't think we need the Red Rowdies to get the crowd coming and pumped up this time. There will be a lot of stars in the billing this year.

Ask me again when the season starts right now I still see a lot of question marks. But on paper the team looks great. Right now I still have questions about Stevie, Mike James, and Scola. Rick Adelman will have his hands full trying to mesh everything together. Right now I am at good, but me for me personally the favorite offseason would have to be the 04-05 when we got Tracy McGrady. However with all that said I am still impressed with the job Morey has done in the offseason, the free agent market was relatively weak this offseason, and he has done a fine job in finding talent while spending very little.

That offseason was good...but it was just one good piece of news. This offseason, we've had like 5...and counting. Plus, we had to give up 3 starters Francis, Mobley and Cato and take on crap contracts like Juwan's. This year, we added a lot of good pieces without giving up hardly anything.

It will be the best in terms of the most effective and thorough retooling once we have made the last trade / trades in trimmimg the roster and adding at least one more Big like Haslem...!
