Stupid Spurs. My hate for them is just a scar now, but it can be reopened if we ever face Ginobili / Parker in the playoffs. At least Bowen is gone. As for the Mavs..... screw those guys. I've been to SLC for Rockets vs. Jazz, SA for Rockets vs. Spurs, and PHX for Rockets vs. Suns. Talked the most trash at the Jazz game, even though the fans were mostly families who seemed to be annoyed with my group's yelling/cheering... Spurs game sucked b/c I was with my Spurs fan girlfriend. We'll leave it at that. Suns game was kinda boring except for the fact that the Rockets were playing. Fans were really nice and pretty respectful, just some playful jabs. Phoenix was a cool city to visit, and strictly speaking SLC isn't bad either. Not as nice as Phoenix, but not bad.
It is an awful location, but it's nice that we can avoid some SA traffic since it's on the outskirts. Come say Hi to me at the game! I'll be wearing my spacesuit. We'll be romping around the AT&T center like we did last time. We'll be in section 207 I believe. 1st time we went last year on Jan 22, they didn't have the silver & black pack and after a win we took that place over! The second time they did have their fan group, but we only had about 5 of us. It's going to be a showdown!
I'm headed to Portland for our game March 2nd this year, Can't friggin wait - Portland's Rose Garden is a cool place to watch a game and the fans are really passionate about their team. They are the only game in town (No football, baseball, etc.) so it's a bit of a college atmosphere. I went to a game at Staples last season but it wasn't a Rox game. Staples is very nice but the fans don't really get into the game. It's more of a see and be seen type of thing. I swear I thought everyone had been given downers on their way into the stadium; it was surreal. As far as a place to watch a game, my top five would be 1.) Utah - behind enemy lines 2.) Miami - it's gonna be nuts dowb there this year 3.) Portland - check 4.) Denver - I love Colorado 5.) NYC
I'll give you this Spoiler 08-09 team autographed ball if you shank tinman. at least kick him in the balls. serious bro.
Hey I just found out I'm going to the Rockets preseason game in Dallas this Friday!! Is anyone else going? Have yall had good experiences at the American Airlines Center before? Are the Mavs fans civil with Rockets fans at the game?
well it's preseason so they probably won't really care tbh I went to game 1 of spurs vs mavs last year in Dallas and it wasn't that bad, just a few mean stares and couple of boos but nothing bad as fights or throwing stuff. I think Mavs fans hate the Spurs more than the Rockets though, but its a nice arena small hallways.
thanks!! we're just trying to decide how expressive we want to be as Rockets fans there. we'll likely go all out.
Well, tickets for Wolves games are cheap and you can generally get better seats then the ones you buy as no one's there. Did have a couple of people who looked at me funny, but no real trash talking. Minnesota people are pretty civil.
I've seen the Rockets play in Portland, Los Angeles, NY, NJ(not their current venue) and San Antonio. I really had a great time at the Portland game. It was a great atmosphere with cool fans. The NY game was spirited, and mostly fun. The NJ game had more Rockets fans than Nets fans. The San Antonio game was at the Alamodome.
The atmosphere inside Wizards games has been pretty non-existent since Michael Jordan left. DC is all about the Redskins. However, the Verizon Center location is spectacular...right in the middle of "Chinatown" and a short walk to the National Mall. You can also get tickets for pretty cheap.
I hear downtown Newark is lovely this time of year. MSG and Staples have pretty rowdy fans when I have visited.
Go to the nets games, the prudential center is nice and there are so few nets fans, that the rockets fans outnumber them.
true, I used to got to Continental Airlines Arena as well. Clippers games are also fan friendly if you are rooting for the visiting team. Clippers and Nets are always like the JV teams no matter their records in their respective towns... the fans are milder. maybe a move to brooklyn for the nets can change that...
I saw the Rockets at the Alamodome in the cheap seats and the somewhat expensive seats. The cheap seats really sucked considering it's a football stadium. What they should have done was make a downtown arena in San Antonio. What's the point of having fans so far away from the river walk?
What I'm getting is that when I go down for the game this year I shouldn't get a hotel near the stadium......
cool a Nuggets4 thread about going to games. What are you doing for Jan 4th? haha. If I'm still in Boulder we have to go. If not, I'll be in San Fran by then, so what I think would be cool is seeing Yao at GS. They will fill the stands and then we get to see a fastbreak game. After that, follow the Rockets to Sacramento and watch a game in probably the best bball stadium in the NBA, imo. And see Landry.
yeah its only about a 10-15 minute drive really but yeah they built the at&t center in the bad side of town but at the same time it's not as bad as in other parts of San Antoio...yeah im pretty sure San Antonio will build a Stadium sometime in downtown hope they could build a baseball to lure a baseball team in the near future.
