Iverson was the worst MVP probably ever. All he really does is chuck shots. He has one of the highest playoff ppgs ever, but that's because he's the highest shot taker in the nba playoff history. Also he didn't take that team to the NBA finals. That team rode their defense to the title, and Mutombo and Larry Brown had more to do with that than Allen "We're talking about practice" Iverson. Seriously, Shaq was the only person I know who could play at a high level in the NBA without practice. Iverson didn't work on his game at all, and his skill level was still at a rookie level until the day he retired.
I agree it was Shaq, but I feel like there has to be some Nash love, too. The guy turned a bunch of also-rans into perennial contenders because of his knowledge as a player. He may not have been as skilled as somebody like Iverson or Dirk, but his basketball IQ is outstanding. He was the Most Valuable Player to Phoenix during those two seasons; without him, they would have gone nowhere.
People, is yall really gonna act like shaq have dat much skill? Lets be honest, da only reason dat man was able ta put up those kinda numbers and prety much be a gaurenteed two pts if you threw him da ball under da basket is because he is a human Redwood Tree. Dats it. Nuttin More, Nuttin less. For all you people who akshully watched him play, didnt every possesion by him against an opposin center look like a automatic lopsided mismatch because of his gargantuan frame and tree trunk arms? Be super honest.....
2 points is 2 points no matter if its a dunk or a leaning one-handed fadeaway with one hand tied behind you back
This is Shaq in 2000. <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/EefJHAWigvY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Wat do dis video show except somebody built like a 7 1/2 foot Incredible Hulk dunking on small humans? If i played ball on a 6 foot goal against my 5 year old lil sista, would you be impressed????????
So do you think Wilt's best MVP in the '60s is the best? Who are you going to pick for the '60s as single best MVP award year. I love your writing. And I don't like Shaq....but there are many big ppl. No one did what he did. And that's what made Hakeem so awesome...the only center who could outplay Shaq.
Who won the most championships as the best player on his team? Who was a dominant force on both ends of the floor? Who was always humble and showed how to play the game the right way? Who won titles with 2nd fiddles like the Little Mermaid and Manu Ginobody? The Big Fundamental, that's who. As for Shaq, he should have been called for 3 seconds or an offensive foul just about every time down the court. I wish the refs would have given Yao the same treatment.
^^ sorry I hate the Spurs like no other team (next to Utah) and I drag TimmAH down with me. And I was so close to agreeing with you after your Ginobody jab.
I think Duncan and Garnett deserve some credit. Garnett did what Lebron did in the much much tougher Western Conference. I think its between the big men
