    Studio Movie Grill, good stuff

the theater is top notch, but for some reason still prefer stadium seating as this is not

There location off West Road/Highway 6 is surprisingly nice also since its in an old building.

You can try a small ass town for that.

I got to movies up here in Nacogdoches / Lufkin and we are literally the ONLY people in the theater. (we being my gf and I).

Go to the dollar Cinema on Synott and Westhimer. You get sticky, ripped seats and dark movie screens all for the price of $1(only on Tues.) or a $1.50. :p Make sure you bring friends too.

    yes

and i don't always notice better sound.....but i notice it big time there. i'd say, if sound is high on your theater criteria, you should check it out. it's a Studio Movie Grill.

I dunno, however big of an upgrade the speakers are I doubt it will make up for the hard surfaces of the tables and floor and the sound of everyone eating.

Honestly, I can not believe that old Windchimes theater is still there. It's been there since about 1986. It's been a dollar cinema since about 1992. I haven't been there since about 92 either. :) Your description of it is exactly how I imagined it would be at this point, though.

For me the two Edwards theathers are the best, clean and comfortable. The AMC on Dunvale is the worst in town, seat don't recline back at all and are very uncomfortable!

I never really feel safe at the AMC on Dunvale. I've heard of too many people getting their cars broken into at that place

Silverado on SH 249 is great. My wife and I also like the Movie Tavern on 249.

I always go for the Angelika; they show good movies, lack annoying teenagers (one of the great disadvantages of Edwards, beyond price) and validate your parking! Plus, I just like going downtown.

Buy a badass HD surround sound and a DVD burner.
    Pay Netflix or Don't

No talking or phones, cheap beer, stop the movie to pee.

Why would anyone want to go out?

Because the latest movies are not available for home theater.

    Yeah they arrrrrrgh.

I wonder what effect it would have on the bottom line for a major blockbuster movie to have it available for download worldwide at $30, on the same day it hit theaters? I think it would be huge, that a lot of people that illegally download would pay for it. You might even get one sale to the pirates who are going to get it to resell it.

We had another couple that we used to go to the movies with most every Friday. We did it for over 10 years; and now we don't ever go because the experience usually sucks; the people, the prices (matinee only!), popcorn and drink prices, and the numbing repetitiveness of special effects movies. The first 50 or 60 were good now it's just more.

I dunno but I would never go to the movies again. I spent tons of time and money on my HT and there is no place like home.
