I actually liked State Property a lot. The sequel was lame, but the original was pretty edgy. Also Training Day featured a cameo by Snoop.
This is a little bit broad as some of the movies listed (outside of the poll) leave my head scratching a bit...when I'm thinkin movie starring a rapper(s), I'm thinkin of the rapper as part of the main cast. But some of the movies listed here, the rappers are supporting cast at best. If the rapper is part of the main cast, I'd go with 8 Mile. Supporting cast I'd go with Boyz in the Hood. And for cameos or very minor supporting roles, Finding Forrester comes to mind as well as Training Day. Honorable mentions to Barbershop and Friday (haven't seen some of the others like Menace).
I voted for Friday cuz that was the one that I remember, but really Mos Def was amazing in Hitchhiker's guide. He should be getting a lot more scripts, don't know why he doesn't.
Just to rub it in for A-Train, 1. Ali 2. MIB 3. Bad Boys 4. Hitch 5. Independence Day 6. I, Robot 7. Enemy of the State 8. The Legend of Bagger Vance 9. Bad Boys II 10. Shark Tale
tad bit suprised that "above the rim" w/tupac wasn't mentioned. another is "187" w/samuel l. jackson being the main character (but only if cameos count.... method man aka johnny blaze was in it).
Disorderlies Edit: my pick is New Jack City. It was the first of a kind. I saw it opening weekend at Sharpstown Mall. It was outstanding. The audience was rooting for the bad guys.
Loved that movie, it could be considered a modern day Scarface. Only thing I hated is the sound is weak and I had to watch it about 10 times before I could figure out what the hell Ox was saying. I know Method Man is in that movie too, along with some T-Boz and some other guys.
Ox was one of the best characters in that entire movie. I think I'm going to watch Belly when I get home from work. Despite alot of my peers not liking the movie I thought it was great all-around. Method Man is funny playing Ike Love.
Well at least no one has said Higher Learning with Ice Cube. That has to be one of the worst movies I have seen. My vote goes to New Jack City
Blue Chips - does Shaq count as a rapper? Really, I would probably go with one of Will Smith's movies, maybe ID4 or Jersey Girl.
I don't no much about rap, but I know a little bit about acting. Ludacris was very good in Crash, and Diddy was surprisingly powerful in Monsters Ball.
I loved 187, i didn't know method man was in it. there was one movie, tupac played the lead, i loved that movie, i cannot remember the name. One question, do we count movies of Shaq? because then Kazaam is the best (for the people who didn't understand, this was sarcasm).
