Sorry but those are about the only things the two have in common, other than them both being sword and sandal epics. There of the same genre but different in style. And while Braveheart did pave the way for Gladiator, it was Gladiator's tremendous success that spawned 4-5 similar movies in a short time frame. And Gladiator was better.
OK then. What exactly did you find to be the major differences? They both followed practically the same story line.
How did they follow the same storyline? One was about a man trying to free his land, the other was of a man seeking vengeance for his murdered family. One was incredibly depressing and overly long. The other was uplifting even during some of its depressing moments. They both featured ill-fated heroes to be sure. And I'll acknowledge that they're similar..hell most movies nowawadays are...but they're hardly carbon copies of each other. They feel like two different movies to me, largely due to their styles.
