IIRC Lynch shot the first 90 some minutes as a pilot for TV. It was rejected so he went back and wrote and filmed some more and released it as a movie. What part of the ending? I thought the entire part of the movie from the singing sequence to the end was an alternate reality inside Naomi Watts' character's head right before she kills herself.
Some that haven't been mentioned A Beautiful Mind - Great Twist but also a great ending... just goes to show that man can overcome pretty much anything. Big Fish - Just saw this one last night, the ending was about the only memorable thing for me though. The rest of the movie never quite grabbed onto what it was trying to convey but the ending was great. Das Boot - We made it..... ooops trying to think of some more.....
While I wouldn't call it a GREAT ending, I have always liked the ending to the movie Gattaca. There was all this build up of the Hawke character making it in the space program. Then the love interest of Uma Thurman had me predicting that he would be accepted in to go to Titan, but would not go for her sake because he was all in love. But what happens is they part ways and he goes to do what he has been dreaming his whole life. It didn't have the story book ending, but it seemed realistic to me...as realistic as a future movie with rampant genetic discrimination can be. Oh, the the ending of Jude Law's character really blindsided me, for some reason.
OT but, I've never really understood the criticism of RoTJ. Yeah, there's the Ewoks; but after Jar Jar, they don't seem anywhere near that bad.
It isn't just that there are Ewoks. The problem is that the Ewoks are absolutely slaughtering "an entire legion of my (the Emperor's) best troops". It is one thing for a hero like Luke or Han to take apart some stormtroopers, but it gets a little rediculous when the are being massacred by teddy bears with rocks and sticks.
I like the ending of "Perfect World". I have no idea if anyone has seen it but I think its an excellent movie from beginning to end. A classic ending to me is also the orginial "Planet of the Apes" when Heston finds the statue of liberty at the beach. All of the time believing he was on another planet.
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.. if you havent seen it yet.. go buy the dvd now.. cus you will want to own it.
Yeah I agree. Word of warning: Be alert and don't miss a minute. Otherwise, the movie won't seem to make sense. Its pretty complicated.
To me, it just seemed like they didn't take the time to make something original. It was too much of a w****'s movie (a movie made for money rather than for love). The Ewoks are an example of this (included because they'd make a great line of toys, rather than to best serve the story). And the 2nd Death Star just seemed a bit too much like "We're out of ideas". I don't hate the movie, but it is definitely the weak sister of the original trilogy.
