Great thread - how can you pick only one?? Wanna be startin' something? I dig Just cant stop loving you aswell. Sentimental reasons. oh man there's so many!! Man in the mirror...Jam was an awesome song. Michael Jordan in the clip - your kidding me. Sweet!!
He's had so many great hits, I really can't pick one, but Don't Stop Till You Get Enough (I still jam to this sometimes... it'll never get old! If I had to choose my favorite ever by MJ, this probably would be it) Rock With You (from the "Off the Wall" album I love. This album is great) Get on the Floor (the 3rd cut I love from "Off the Wall"... doesn't get as much play as the first 2, but still great) Billy Jean (classic) Smooth Criminal (underrated - both the video and the song) I Want You Back (because this video displays his greatness as a kid entertainer the best, IMO) Will You Be There (the full length version (over 7 minutes) is awesome with a Beethoven intro, eventually breaking into a hymn-like church song. I think this is one of the most beautiful songs he's made) Faos, This is the video that made me think "this kid was a genius" (his first appearance on Ed Sullivan). The closeup at the beginning let you know the dude had it all - the smile, personality, moves, and singing talent. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ELd9r7wJw3M"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ELd9r7wJw3M" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Thank you, DoD. It's crazy to me how much play Thriller gets as a record compared to Off the Wall. Off the Wall is, IMO, one of the top five records by anybody. Michael Jackson + Quincy Jones = magic. Billie Jean and Beat It are great songs, but I take the whole Off the Wall experience over anything else, with Don't Stop Til You Get Enough as my all-time favorite. And right behind the Off the Wall record for me is the Jackson 5 stuff. ABC and the other songs already mentioned, but also "Ben." That song was beautiful.
Don't Stop Til You Get Enough Smooth Criminal Jam Beat It (sick guitar solo) Billie Jean Bad (the video made it one of my favorites) Thriller The Way You Make Me Feel in that order.
Off The Wall was his best album. "Rock With You" is as good as it gets. Bat... regarding Ben, I could never get over the whole rat thing. Willard came out when I was just old enough to start going to the movies by myself and it creeped me out.
Ben <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aSqo17o2a1w"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aSqo17o2a1w" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Here's a mix of Jackson 5 stuff. If "Who's Loving You" at the 4 minute mark doesn't put goosebumps on your arm you must be dead. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7xdVixR6zaM"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7xdVixR6zaM" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I agree that those are two of his best songs. A lot better than "The Girl Is Mine." I also loved "2 Bad" and "They Don't Care About Us." from the History album too. I keep going back and forth on what my favorite is, so I'll say it's a tie between "Human Nature" and "Bad."
I'm gonna go with this one, just to be different. Just realize that the original lyrics were "12 or 5." Apparently, the producers nixed that. Oh, and add that the intro is a blatant Twisted Sister rip-off. This is crapurific. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-eGapuYUTOo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-eGapuYUTOo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
