I know there aren't many to choose from but my girlfriend has hinted that she wants to go to Lake Charles for her 24th for her first time and I've actually only been to Coushatta.. I wanted to ask fellow CFers what they thought of the resorts there. I feel like going the resort route, i.e. L'Auberge or Golden Nugget, will probably be more fun but I'm not sure what all there is to offer elsewhere. What I have in mind is getting a night at Golden Nugget and getting a DayBed at the pool lounge.. Just tough forking up over $500-$600 for a night without any feedback on the place, without the bottle. She'll want to eat at a buffet, play some BlackJack, and get pretty hammered... Any recommendations/pointers?
Golden Nugget over L'auberge Or if you want to save some $$, you can stay in L'auberge and take the bus or just walk it to Golden Nugget to enjoy their casino and the various bars there. Also the Golden Nugget buffet is top notch. GN has several bars. What we did is just bar hop and do shots at each place
GN is an incredibly nice place if you can swing it, rooms and tables are not cheap though. Pool is awesome. Not sure if you can get into the GN pool if you stay at Lauberge, but if so that might be worth exploring if on a budget.
$400 for a Saturday night stay and $150 for the Day Bed rental.. I just needed some justification for spending it since I don't know anyone who has been to the pool. I can only get into the pool free if I'm a guest at GN, but I'll be renting that day bed so I'm highly considering booking a room a L'Auberge instead and walking over. Does anyone know the minimum bets at the two resorts? Girlfriend goes on tilt a lot.. Want to minimize the damage.
I only play blackjack so I can only speak for that. On weekends at peak hours the tables all become 25$ minimum at GN. La'burge usually has around 3-5 tables that has $10-15 minimum I believe even on weekend peak hours. Get a players card and earn rewards so in the future you're not spending $400-500 just to stay the night at GN because thats ridiculous.
Spending the weekend in Lake Charles for the first time Staying at the Golden Nugget, this place is a complete dump. Took my grandfather here for his 95th birthday and the place is incredibly unaccomodating
L'Auberge Has some really nice suite options. They’re pretty small, but perfect for two. Much nicer than I expected.
