My noiminee is Bitterman's (a bar on market square in downtown, right next to Treebeards on Travis). Mighty fine burger.....though maybe it's reputation hasn't spread? Easily beats Becks, Fuddruckers, and Pappas (I've not been to the other places - but may have to check a few of them out)
Ah ok, no wonder it wasn't on the list... the link he posted was for best dishes and drinks. Thank ya.
The original Christian's has the best for my buck. Best Onion rings too. I also like Sandwich King on Longpoint, although I eat their Roast Beef Pita more than their Hamburgers. I pass this place four times a day going between work and home. Is there a "better" time to eat there? My wife and I went late one Saturday afternoon last fall, and I got a semi-cold burger with about half a bottle of mayo slapped on it. I've heard alot of people say it was good, but that was not my experience.
oomp, I've always eaten there around lunch and have never had nothing short of a great burger. I'm about to eat my first Bellaire Broiler burger. It's going to have to be amazing to make up for the 20 minute wait for the damn thing.
I voted Tookie's though I dunno if it really counts as Houston or not. I can't believe so many of you are brainwashed by Ruddf&^kers. They make you do all the work - AND they charge you for it. Booooooooooooooo.
Ok, so all you hambooger aficionado's, what makes a hamburger a 'great' hamburger? For me, it's the texture of the meat, the softness. yet firmness, of the bun, the cheese, and the amount of grease.
How many hot dogs it has on it to go with the chili and cheese... hence... Broiler Burger. Aaaaah, those were the days...
Becks?...shouldn't even be on the list...I'm partial to PO's on Telge, Millers, Pappa's Burger, Carls BBQ on 290 also cooks a fine hamborgesa
Good stuff. My favorite on this current list. Fries sucked, but I never base my opinion on a burger on the fries. Next time, I'll just have some chili or some BBQ chips covered with Tabasco. Still didn't like the wait, though.
The one thing I don't like about Fuddruckers is that it tastes decent, but it's basically a burger with all you can eat "junk". They give you the beef and bun and you slop on whatever else you want. That's just not distinctive enough for me. I've only eaten there 2 or 3 times and the last time was several years ago, but I'm sure it's the same. When I used to devour burgers, I always liked Burger King and mom & pop places.
The wait is surprising. Typically, I get my food in 5-10 minutes. which one did you go with? My fav. is the #1 with bbq sauce, or the "Bellaire Special" if I'm truly feeling glutonous.
RM95 - I'll give Roz another shot this week. It's not worth the cost, but I had Red Robin's "Gourmet Cheeseburger" last week and it was great, but not $9 great.
That's actually what I like about Fudd's. I make it how I want it. Every time I make mine with jalepeno cheese goop, pico de gallo, jalepenos, diced onions, and diced tomatoes. Truly wonderful. Try it this way next time.
Ha, my Fuddrucker burger isnt much different. Jalepeno Cheese, Pico de Gallo, lettuce, and honey mustard
Haha, That's what my wife's 86 year old grandmother says. She refuses to eat there. I agree, but I do like nacho cheese on my burger. I haven't eaten there in many years though.
I don't eat burgers all that much these days, but I gotta go with Fuds. I know it's a chain but damn they have good burgers. Just went there last week for the first time in years and it was fantastic.
1. Fuddrucker's 2. Pappas Burgers 3. Sweet Mesquite All of those places are awesome, I'd rank 'em all the same basically but ordered that list by where I eat the most. I work at Fuddrucker's and the 50% discount makes the burgers there taste that much better. Even if I didn't work there, I'd still probably rank them #1. Their slogan is "The World's greatest burgers," much less Houston.
