Southwells. i think there are multiple locations, but the one im familiar with is Greenbriar and Holcomb.
I have two nominees that haven't been mentioned for best burger. One is Mel's Country Cafe in Tomball. They have a burger that if you finish, you get your name and picture on the wall, and you get either a certificate to get another one or a t-shirt saying "I survived". Their burgers are delicious, but if you eat the whole Mel's Mega, like I did last week, you might not want burgers ever again. I mean like ever. It had six patties of meat, a pound of bacon, a half pound of chese, two sliced tomatoes, two onions, a pile of lettuce, and a quarter pound or so of pickles. When they bring it out to you, it's literally like a foot tall. The other is sort of heresy because it's a chain, but the Bonzai Burger at Red Robin is excellent. It has teriyaki sauce and grilled pineapple, and is freaking good. Plus they have unlimited fries. MMm.. How am I not a fat arse?
i can't believe people are mentioning the bellaire broiler. that place serves crap and the service is surly. i was disappointed all-round by the amount of grease and the pathetic patty they called meat. the place right next door called the roadster grill is one of my favorites. its bright blue and you can't miss it. try that place. located at bissonett and bellaire.
I'm pretty partial to Charlie's Hamburger Joint at I-10 and Bunker Hill. Also, whoever said that Goode Co. Taqueria and Hamburgers makes a good burger is very correct, but that place is just too loud for my taste.
Man are you serious? Red Robin is one of the last places I would go to for burgers. However you are right about the fries.
Oh I forgot to mention Ruby Tuesdays. These guys make some badass burgers. This might be my fav burger joint that Ive been to.
If you're looking for balance, refinement, and surprising simplicty, the burger at Amazon Grill is shockingly good. There's something about the meat, bun, and jalapeno mayo combination that just sings. However, if you're looking for massive, roll up your sleaves, flavor on overdrive, check out the mushroom swiss burger at Christen's Taiilgate. Wow. It's a monster.
I'll end the discussion right here. The Kobe Beef Hamburger at Max's Wine Dive on Washington in the Heights. Case close. Next thread.
Hot damn man...Roznovsky's is awesome. It has been forever since I have been there. The cornmeal battered onion rings are unbelievably good. Also...Miller's Cafe always had good burgers, but I haven't been there in a year or two. In Kemah...Tookie's is very good as well.
I haven't lived in Houston for 5 years now, but the best burger when I left was Bubba's hands down. I still try to go there when I make it back to town.
Can you please tell me what the point of a Kobe beef burger is? Kobe beef is special because of its particularly high amount of fat marbling. If you're just going to grind the meat up anyways, whats the difference between grinding a nice non-Kobe cut with a bit of fat and grinding Kobe beef? Kobe beef is meant to be eaten whole, not ground up.
Adrian's in 5th Ward. Biggest burger I've ever consumed in my life. I've always wanted to try Roznovsky's .
