Move over Niko Niko, its Stelios. Damn good and the ambiance can't be beat - its located in a gas station at 5162 Richmond (corner of Sage).

I'm not a snob by any means, but I've always been kinda wary of eating hot food from a gas station.

me too. so saying the best gyro comes from one seems slightly suspect.

Cafe Layal has a pretty good gyro. That onion/garlic sauce they serve w/ it is delicious!

Gyros and Shish Kabob on 4486 Highway 6 N. My dad used to take me there when I was a kid. It's an old, small hole in the wall with good gyros.

I like having a gyro at Bibas after a night of drinking and dancing.

Stelio's been around for a while. I knew about this like 2 or 3 years ago.. When they had the $5 Gyro plates with fries. But I think they raised it to $6 the last time I checked. And yesss its pretty damn good, huge Gyros from what I remember...

by the way its "Gyyy-Ro" not "Yee-Ro"

Have you tried Macdougal Street in the Greenwich Village? There are a bunch of falafel/gyro places around there that are pretty good.

One of the more famous one's is called Mamoun's.

Do they have Shawarmas? Gyros are everwhere but I can't find a good shawarma! =/ Plus the Gyros in NY are tiny compared to Stelios. I don't know about now but they used to be MONSTERS!
