Don't tell me that I am the only person to say Roger Daltrey although I love Freddie Mercury as well.
gotta go with Zack de la Rocha. Rage Against the Machine were great, don't say anything about AudioSlave i might blow up.
Although it has already been mentioned in this thread, I feel it necessary to reiterate. Zach de la Rocha is highly overrated, as an individual vocalist. RATM was eight parts Morello, one part ZDLR, and one more part Morello. Zach's crass style fit their mold, and I'm not insinuating he didn't augment their popularity, but he did little in the way of composition beyond lyrics. Hardly the greatest frontman ever. Audioslave does suck hard though. I liked the Janis Joplin pick. Even if you don't like her style personally, there is something to be said for being the only qualifying woman on this topic. I'm going in a different direction (sorta)
of everyone mentioned, it's iggy pop, by light years. if you want to go more mainstream, jagger all the way. however, i will say codell made a damn good call with david byrne, for the testosteronally challenged
i was more so trying to fit in with the style of picks here... i would go with Pimp C of the legendary UGK or Tupac of the Outlawz i'm sure tinman would probably say Scarface of the Geto Boyz
I feel Phil Anselmo should be included in the conversation. Incredible (metal) range, first guy to shred his throat in metal, heroic drug intake, between-song banter par excellance, instantly recognizable appearance that helped define his band. Phil Anselmo is frontman personified!
Hippieloser, Agree with you on Anselmo - excellent choice. What do you think about this "rivalry" he had with Dimebag Darrell?? From what I saw on Pantera, Phil seemed to be a major dick to Dimebag but then again there are 2 sides to the story.
