LOL, you got me on The Clash. Excellent debut album. As for Tom Petty, The greatest DVD concert I own is Tom Petty at the Fillmore (San Francisco) ,Simply Awesome. Must see.
Yea..I dont respect anyone that doesnt list the first VH album when discussing best debut albums. VH agree on GnR...simply amazing album...makes it even worse what Axl has done to that once promising band. and Black Sabbath... but..if I must include Sabbath...I also must include Iron MAiden and Queensryche's album...do EPs count? IF not..even then, I could easily include The WArning... so..my list is VH -- s/t Sabbath -- s/t GnR -- Appetite Iron Maiden -- s/t Queensryche -- EP or The WArning
Hmmm mc mark comes up with more Classics that I omitted. Shame on me. Oh and The Freak mentioned Kiss's debut album. In my top 10 for sure.
Major gaffe on my part VH is Top 5 for sure. I thought I was the only one that owned Queensryche's EP. You know they were all around 17 years old when they recorded that? Amazing how talented they were and are.
"Iron Maiden" (1980) - Iron Maiden "Holy Diver" (1983) - Dio "Cowboys From Hell" (1990) - Pantera "Killing is my Business" (1985) - Megadeth "Black Sabbath" (1970) - Black Sabbath "Blizzard of Ozz" (1980) - Ozzy Osbourne "Boston" (1976) - Boston "My Own Prison" (1997) - Creed "Under the Table and Dreaming" (1994) - Dave Matthews Band I know I am missing some, but this is not a bad start...
yep...saw them on that tour at the Red Cross benefit show at the Coloseum with Quiet Riot and Axe...cost 5 bucks and was one of the most amazing shows I ever saw...Axe and Queesryche both blew me away... Speaking of which....add Axe to my list. oooh...TDogg....damn good calls on the first Blizzard album and the first Dio...cant believe I forgot them.
naw...actually...from what I have seen of Tdogg's tastes...wihen it comes to old metal...me and the Dogg are on the same wavelength.
The answer has to Are You Experienced... It was mind blowingly original, stunning in it's virtuoso and has influenced music ever since. It was just a bolt of genius from out of nowhere. Here's a great first and only album (maybe that is a whole nother thread)
No doubt, Jimi's debut was genius. Believe me, it killed me to pick Bad Co. ahead of Jimi. The reason is Bad Co. was the first album I owned and I played it day and night, so it is, and always will be running through my brain.
