For another thread (and just an example), but did Jesus die for E.T. as well?

    I loved Gattaca's ending.

I don't want to argue with your response, but I always thought that the Bible implies that we, humans, are the only species created in God's image, and I've always taken that to include intelligence.

Me personally, if I ever met an alien, I would question everything I've been taught, including religion.

the bible says man was created in God's image...it doesn't say other beings weren't created in that image. it does say man was given dominion over the animals of the earth...but it doesn't say he was given dominion over men from other planets.

keep in mind, too, that the bible isn't a textbook. it doesn't even attempt to explain stuff in that kind of detail. it was written to a specific audience...going off into existence of aliens on other planets would kind of get off topic!

of course you'd question...questioning is fine. i question all the time. that's what a relationship with God is all about. it's not just a prelude to faith...the two are intertwined.

Have you ever seen "Fail Safe" with Walter Matthau, old from the 60's about these Air Force pilots, who fly over Russia everyday with a nuclear bomb and an envelope with the go or no go message. One day they got the wrong message, and their superiors couldn't get in contact with, but by the time they did, it was beyond some designated time that no matter what they heard after that time they had to follow the orders in the envelope.

Believe it or not, it was shown in one of my theology classes.

Yeah, that one was recently re-done with George Clooney, Don Cheadle and some other celebs. I thought it was pretty decent.

There are a couple of other movies like that. Is that the one where the Soviets are allowed a mutual nuking of New York?

Yeah, I actually ordered that from Columbia House for my dad. He likes it a lot. They also remade this movie recently with some big name stars (Clooney, Dreyfuss, Don Cheadle) in black/white on CBS. Very interesting movie, kinda reminds me of Dr Strangelove without all the eccentricies(sp?). No offense Manny... ;)

    Original

    Remake

edit: Dangit Astro! beat me to it. :)

I am going to follow you around to every thread you post in and spit upon your good name and disgrace you in front of your family for seven generations back until vengence is done and the will of the betrayed is wrecked upon the soul of the guilty!!!!!!!!

    Did anyone mention Frailty?

Very suprising ending. Along the same lines as "The Sixth Sense".

Good calls on Frailty and Primal Fear. Frailty was underrated IMO.

BTW did anyone ever understand the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey. If so could you please explain it to me.
