From all my years in Houston, I only remember Shipley's. Not a big fan of donuts but getting some fresh off the oven early in the mornings is full of win. fap while consuming for a better effect.
Shipleys, but we don't have them where I live. For plain glazed, Krispy Kreme is the best. I probably go to Dunkin Dounuts the most, because KK doesn't have chocolate kreme filled. Plan on going to Daylight Donuts at some point to try them. I had them several years ago when a professor brought them to class, but I haven't got to see what kind of selection they have.
Had this exact meal hungover last Sunday. I don't think I had slept more than 2 hours. It was like a kiss from God.
I love some Shipley's warm glazed do-nuts. one of the things I miss about Houston. When people bring Round Rock donuts into the office I can never figure out why the dough is orange. WTF is in there that makes it orange?
I wish I could eat a donut to answer the poll. Donuts are bad and their only design is to send you to your grave earlier than if you didn't eat them.
Shipley's if fresh is hard to beat. But they are pretty terrible IMO after a couple of hours of being made. Christy's Donuts in Houston (West Gray/Montrose) is my favorite and they stay fresh longer.
That's because Shipleys donuts are pre baked and frozen. While most mom and pop donut shops make their donuts from scratch. I don't get the big deal with donuts. It's nothing but flour and sugar. The best tasting are the ones made with more sugar. And of course they taste better when hot. So donuts are all the same to me. I don't even know why it's considered breakfast food? Mine as well have dessert or candy for breakfast.
Most major cereals, waffles, pancakes, & french toast are all sweet, and can be dessert foods. Easy to associate sweet and pastry as breakfast.
There's a place on I-45 and Howard called Snow Flake that is my favorite. Have been going there since high school. BTW, I had a krispy Kreme in San Marcos for the first time ever in June and that destroys Shipley's easily since I had no bias. I've had both hot and fresh.
