The first Denzel movie I saw was Macolm X. That one made an impression. I'd say that's probably my favorite, but I've watched the hell out of American Gangster and Training Day. I remember him being great back in the day in "Philadelphia," too. (no homo)

My god, Deja Vu sucked and the only reason why I went was because he was in it. The best had to Man on Fire, Glory is up there. He over did it in Training Day. The Pelican Brief was good also.

Hard to determine his best movie, he's been in so many good ones.

I liked Training Day, Remember the Titans, and Courage Under Fire.

I haven't seen Book of Eli or American Gangster yet.

    OP, John Q was garbage...

    HOT GARBAGE.
    MATT SCHAUB TYPE GARBAGE!

If it was ANY other actor other than Denzel starring, probably a C or C-. But with him in it, I'd give it a B-...maybe even a B since Tony Scott's direction was perfect for the movie.

Training Day gets my vote for Best Denzel Movie though this is handicapped since I didn't see Malcom X, Glory, or The Hurricane.

American Gangster is pretty good but it wasn't a "wow, this is new" from Denzel. His role in American Gangster seemed like Remember The Titans' clean cut, well-spoken image meshed with Training Day's lack of respect for the law.

The best movie he's been in is by far Glory. Unbelievable film in which he won a Supporting Oscar.

Best performance...since he usually brings his "A" game to any movie I don't think you can really pick, especially since he has won and been nominated for multiple roles.

My favorites would probably be Crimson Tide and Remember the Titans.

And probably his most underrated performance was Man on Fire.

I'll say if there's one qualm about him as an actor, it's that he stays with dramatic roles. That's certainly not a terrible thing. But I'd love to see him show some range and maybe delve into comedy, action or romance...something different.

    All of y'all are wrong.

Devil in a Blue Dress, hands down. A retro-noir movie: Washington as the detective, Jennifer Beals as the hotness fatale, and Don Cheadle & Tom Sizemore as quick-tempered, dueling sociopaths. That movie is great.

Only thing I remember from that movie - "You hittin' my spot!"

My favorite is Remember the Titans.
