Mike Jackson Prince Madonna dominated the 80s but there was a heck of alot of good music the 80s was dominated more by images because of the advent of MTV [you know . .when they actually played music on MTV] I think alot of d*mn good music came out of that era ALSO I think it depends on your tastes When was Country's best years? Who knows Rocket rRver
you cannot define it as R&B it was transcendent Pop . . Rock . . it became a Trendsetter and a benchmark for alot of others then came . . . THILLER Say what they want but NO THREE ALBUMS esp Consecutive albums touch Off the Wall - Thiller - and Smooth Criminal in my mind Rocket River
those are definately three great albums and this is all totally subjective but let me ask you a question. how many consecutive great albums did the beatles have?
Rubber Soul - Revolver - Sgt. Peppers is the greatest consecutive album streak EVER! Jimi's - Are You Experienced - Axis Bold As Love - Electric Ladyland ain't too shabby. Then there's Bob Dylan: The Freewheelin' The Times They Are A-Changin' Another Side Of Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home Highway 61 Revisited Blonde On Blonde Just my opinion
Got to get The Who in there... Tommy (1969) Live at Leeds (1970) Who's Next (1971) Qudrophenia (1973)
yeah, those are the three that popped into my head after i saw his post. however, think of the albums that came after- that streak is continuously genius until the end. i'm not the biggest beatles fan on earth but i do have their whole discography and gotta give them their due. if i had to be stuck with only one of their albums it would be the white album.
Can't believe no-one mentioned Chicago or Little River Band as two of the great groups of the 70's.... I voted for the 80's because that's the music I grew up with, but the 70's were probably better.
Not a big fan of Magical Mystery Tour, which came after Sgt. Peppers. Some good songs on it .... and some not so good ones I agree, the White Album is my favorite.
