Salleys highest apg for a season---1.8
Salleys highest spg for a season---.71

Who the hell cares what John Sally thinks? He was a player that aspired to mediocrity, and now he's on a two-bit sports show headlined by Tom frickin' Arnold.

Yao Ming, right now, is better then John Salley EVER was.

I'm really confused. I don't understand how Queso hung around so long without going nuts and then, as soon as Yao became our pick, went nuts. I mean, he really went nuts. And now he's banking everything on Yao busting, even when it's clear to everyone (scouts, fans, coaches, NBA players) that he won't. I don't remember what his first 250 posts were about, but he only comes around now to say, "so what? he sucks!!!!!!!!" I don't remember him being an OBVIOUS troll before. Which is why it's a shame he's one now. If he'd only said, hey, maybe I was wrong, I don't know, maybe I should wait and watch just ONE game before insisting, against all evidence, that Yao sucks, then I figure he'd be welcomed back to the bbs community like every other doubter. After all, it was natural to doubt before the facts were in. Turns out he's just a plain old troll. Of the boring variety. But still somehow allowed to waste precious bandwidth.

Clutch: I would understand if he added ANYTHING to the debate over Yao. But it's clear he's trolling. I appreciate people being given a long leash, but as long as server space is in short supply, isn't this the first guy to cut loose? And won't it feel GOOD doing it?

That's all from me. You're the boss. As it should be.

    Night.

Come on, let's cut Elgrandequeso some slack. No matter how bad a guy is he still has some merits. I mean wouldn't Elgrandequeso make for a good rottweiler? You know, the way he bites and doesn't let go.

Bottom line, I don't giva damn about what those Hollywood freaks were saying about our man ming their in business to entertained people and nothing more.

Sally was just an average player during his time and never got better, But on Ming at 21 yrs of age he will accelerate to the max of his game and without a doubt.

ElGrandeturtle, sorr I meant ElGrandeQQueso, aint no racist, he's just stupid. As I pointed out in my other posts. We r all capable of ignorance. But ignoring the facts when presented, it turns into stupidity. I guess it takes a MAN to admit he is wrong.

The reasons I think MING brougt the ball low last game is that he tried to bang against the US big men. In his other video clips, I didnt see that was his habit. It is hard to bend your knees to lower your center of gravity and bang with your arms up.

1st. At best John Salley was a bit role player during his years. A jurneyman is more like it. In Salley's best dream he didn't block 6 shots and gather 11 boards with 3 steals, 3 assists and 13 points against the best Centers in the game and with no help.

2nd. If you think anyone that is 7'5" misses a dunk then how about someone that is 7'4" or 7'2" or 7'1" or 7'0"? I guess that would make Ralph Sampson, Hakeem Olajuwan, Bill Walton, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Moses Malone, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Elvin Hayes and any other center you can name a douche. They have all missed dunks. I don't care if you're Chinese, Black, Arab, White, or Eskimo if you are a 7 footer and you play enough basketball you are going to miss a dunk at some point in your life.

3rd. Everyone got a big laugh out of MJ missing that dunk but not one person challenged his greatness or his basketball skills because he missed that dunk. It was funny and it happened and MJ is still arguably the greatest basketball player to ever lace up a pair of tennis shoes. So according to your logic MJ is still a great player after missing a dunk but Yao is a douche because of it. Nice logic head cheese.

Bull! Didn't watch the game so invent lies? Please your ignorance is showing. If you had watched the game you would have seen that Yao was able to hold his position and was not able to be pushed around like a junior high player. You would have seen that he had very good to great fundamentals and that he only brought the ball down low when he came back in during the 2nd quarter but adjusted and never did it in the 2nd half. Please take the time to at least watch before you criticize.

Who cares what kind of a play Salley was? Ming should not have missed that dunk. In fact, I dont see how you miss a dunk that requires jumping 4 inches off the ground. No excuse for that.

Are you using that as a reason that he will not be great? If so then can you explain why you think why other 7 footers are great that have missed dunks? Or do you think that there has never been a great 7 footer?

How's that line go again? Something like " I completely disagree with what you have to say, but I'll die for your right to say it."

    1) ElWhatever may be wrong, but he's not being offensive, just adopting an unpopular, and possibly innacurate position. Let's not get too crazy with the whole banning people thing, else we'll be left just talking to people who agree with us, and what fun is that? I understand banning people who are using offensive language, or overtly promoting offensive ideas ( bigotry, etc.), and I even understand banning people whose sole contribution is to drop in here and troll, a la ESPN board idiots, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. ElQ!?!? may have a bug up his Grande about Ming, but I say that's his prerogative, and if you think he's being a knee jerk reactionist, don't read him on this subject.

    2) John Salley was a very effective role player on one of the best benches I've ever seen...and his contributions were at both ends...That said, if Ming's rookie year doesn't exceed Salley's career year, barring injury, I'll be dissapointed. We're talking different levels here...

    3) Missing a dunk is one of those things that can go either way...those who don't want to hear anything bad about the dunker in question will jump to his defense, those who don't want to hear anything good about the dunker will use it to lambaste him, and the vast majority will at most chuckle for a second and then file it under This Stuff Happens...

Why would you assume that? The thread is all about how Salley is an idiot because he thinks Ming should have made the dunk. I agree with Salley. Who ever said that Ming wont be great? He kicked ass, plain and simple. I just think that someone who is 7'6" with a wide open dunk should not miss.

You are right. Normally, it wouldnt be a big deal. But, this thread is soley about that. So, if we are going to talk about the missed dunk, then Ming should have hit it. This doesnt mean he isnt a good player or that he wont dominate the NBA, it just means that he shouldnt have missed the dunk.

If missing a freaking dunk doesnt mean u r a subpar player. This thread is pointless. Since all great players have missed uncontested dunks in their careers, and for Sally to make a point about it on MING'S performance, he is an idiot.
