i sometimes forget how hot she was in her prime. and that video is probably my favorite from a hotness perspective. only 1011 more chances (well 1010 now) to do that for the next several decades.
Blondie - The Tide Is High (The Paragons) The Pleasure Barons - Take A Letter Maria (R. B. Greaves) The Sky is Crying - Stevie Ray Vaughan (Elmore James) Straight Outta Compton - Nina Gordon (NWA)
Santana - Black Magic Woman Oye Como Va Evil Ways She's Not there Spanish Castle Magic The Storyville version of Spanish Castle Magic is outstanding also. Malford Millgan sings the hell out of it. An obscure one for blues fans - Ian Moore - Champagn and Reefer
Jose Feliciano - "Light my Fire" The Friends of Distinction - "Grazing in the Grass" Sonic Youth - "Superstar" Teenage Fanclub - "Interstellar Overdrive" Bauhaus - "Ziggy Stardust"

good call! Bauhaus actually did several cool covers, including: Telegram Sam (T.Rex) Dear Prudence (Beatles) Third Uncle (Brian Eno)
Devo - Secret Agent Man Bauhaus - Telegram Sam, Third Uncle Siouxie and the Banshees - Dear Prudence The Breeders - Happiness is a Warm Gun Frank Black - Dirty Old Town The Clash - Police on my Back, I fought the Law The Pixies - Winterlong
I love SRV , I love Hendrix but SRV's covers are really just the same song; it's hardly a different interpretation. But you migtht as well throw Thrid Stone in there.
Here, here. I think it is awfully tough for a lesser/less unique musician/band to do a better cover than the original. Maybe if they have a completely different style to it perhaps. Thus I have a heard time thinking how I could hear an improved version of Bohemian Rhapsody or Voodoo Chile (even with loving SRV’s music). How about worst cover songs ever, I am been hearing a lot of bad covers the last few years.
I downloaded three Blues/Soul tribute CD's recently that are worth the price. (technically all cover songs) Whole Lotta Blues - Tribute to Led Zepplin Power To Soul - Tribute to Jimi Hendrix (this one has big name artist like Prince and Clapton) Black And Blues - Tribute to the Rolling Stones It's a little bit ironic that these bands ripped off the black blues sound, made billions and now the blues artist are paying tribute to them, but hey, any way you can cash a check. (oddly Taj Mahal, about my all time favorite artist, does the only cover I don't like on these CD's) Scar, give a listen to Angelique Kidjo's version of Voodoo Chile for a total change of pace interpretation. It's way cool.
