White doesn't help much against the greenhouse effect. ;) If it's hot as hell outside, it's gonna be hot as hell inside your car if you parked it outside.

We're talking Snoop DeVille here, right?

If so, candy paint all the way baby!

OR you can go with the 'weekend car' route and get yourself that classic beauty you've always dreamed of owning, which I can vouch for. ;) That way, you can drive this during the week...

And have this for the weekend (Black one)...

that's racist. Black cars shouldn't be reselling more than white cars.

I always heard that silver fades quicker than other colors... could just be a myth.

As for the black/white, we've been through that same issue twice. I ended up agreeing that I could give up on the black due to the heat, but no way would I buy white (blah).

    (Ended up with taupe (Infiniti))

I must admit that with tinted windows and a lighter color, the car is MUCH cooler in the summer. Not once has the car been uncomfortable in the summer (although our tinting is quite dark).

Black cars always look the best when they are super clean, but it's hard to keep them that dirt/ dust/ scratch free. I vote for light silver or white the paint looks better over the life of the car. Dark paint absorbs a lot more heat and breaks down faster than light colors -- in addition to showing little dings and scratches.

Blacks give the impression of fading quicker, but in reality, it is actually the clear coat that is breaking down and because clear coat defects/deterioration show up more on black (kind of how dirt shows up more on black than lighter colors) than any other color, it gives that impression.

Most vehicles that look faded, in reality, aren't. They just have clear coat deterioration and/or oxidation.

I have a black car with dark tint, and it's extremely comfortable during the summers.

Seriously, the car's exterior color has little to do with how 'cool' your interior is; it's more of a myth really. However, I would DEFINITELY go for a lighter interior 'shade' (beige, cream white or something similar). Whatever you do, don't get black leather or you will regret it for as long as you own the car.

Otherwise, there is no significant gain from getting a white car over a black one...there just isn't. Whatever that 'advantage' is, it's very incremental.

Oh, and as soon as you get your vehicle delivered (or before you do, if you want the dealer to install it for ya) GET A TINT! THAT is what will make a huge difference for you in Houston summer heat.

My advice? I would go for the dark exterior/light interior combo over a light exterior/dark interior combination. Oh, and get a tint. :)

Wuss. My current and last cars have both had black exteriors and black/charcoal interiors. Of course I was used to riding around in my dad's '74 Impala with no AC as a kid, so that helped. :)

I usually prefer silver or dark grey cars. But I just bought a car that is black on black. I just preferred this car on black.

I think some cars just look better in certain colors.

Hey codell, you might want to look into a gently used Caddy. Cadillacs are notorious for huge depreciation in their first year. Grab one off a short lease, and you could save a ton.
