Used to love going to Papa Geno's when I lived in The Heights. Hard to find a place that does them right with the cheese whiz. Never been to Tornado, but will try to find one near me tonight (Clear Lake).
Even in Austin? And the people rejoiced!!! Harisment: "doing it right" and "cheezwhiz" are mutually exclusive for the better half of the cheesesteak community.
I didn't realize until last Friday that there was a Papa Geno's in Bellaire. I will be there this Friday.
Tried Jae's a couple weeks ago for lunch. What a massive, massive disappointment. Nothing at all like I was expecting. It was dull, mostly bread, very little meat and cheese, and what there was, was bland and forgettable. And crazy expensive. Will not return. Now Papa Geno's.. I'll go back there whenever I get the chance. SO good!
