    I tend towards villains... Albedo from Xenosaga and Sephiroth from FF7 are hard to top. Calypso from Twisted Metal had his moments as well.

    Good guys? I like Joe Higashi and Terry Bogard of KOF/Fatal Fury fame, and Dante from Devil May Cry is undoubtedly cool...

    Kaim Argonar from Lost Odyssey is one of the most complex and interesting characters in any game I've played. Jensen from the same game is perhaps the funniest.

    FF VII had a great cast. I also liked the cast in FFX.

    Kratos is probably my favorite single character.

    Ratchet and Clank are pretty good too.

    Auron from FFX had one of the best character designs in an RPG, and he was pretty cool to boot, so I'm throwing his name out there as well.

    Also, Tidus....

    Solid Snake in the MGS series - loved seeing his character change and mature as the series progressed.

    Sephiroth from FF7 - great backstory and character development with him. Nice to see a bad guy with multiple facets to his character and evolving rather than the typical "all I want to do is take over the world"-style bad guy.

    Haha, I love Albedo. The part where he rips off his own head to freak out MOMO... classic.

    I named my white goldfish after him, and true to his namesake, it took that little guy forever to finally kick it.

    He's one of those villains who's just so ridiculously cool and charismatic that you end up wishing he would win. In he does, in a twisted sort of way...

    But yeah, that scene near the end of the first game is absolutely one of my favorite videogame moments ever.
