because having him instead of allen gives them a better chance at championshhip in the next 2-3 years. Basically Ray Allen is a luxury for them, his game doesn't really mesh with Pierce, and they need Artest's defense more than Ray's shooting. For Houston it's exact opposite, Artest's defense is a luxury while ray's shooting would be a godsend.
then it has little chance to happen, as all boston gets is the incremental $$ b/w the contracts of mcgrady and allen in 2010. still don't see a s&t scenario.
understood, from the bball side of things. but why would boston want a player artest's caliber but making say 15 mils a year? or you mean signing him for 10mils per plus some other rocket(s)?
That's the point, Ron artest always thinks of himself as a first option, he has never been able to play even second fiddle on any of his teams, guess who has the most field goal attempts on this team this year?
Can you come up with any other scenarios trugoy for an S&T with Ron? I hope other posters will come up with ideas as well.
I don't deny that at all,if he can do it consistently. He had a 51 point game in the playoffs which makes me feel that he can, but he didn't do well in quite a few other games as well. It's a moot point because of the contract discrepancy which I didn't realize until it was pointed out to me.
If Ron artest signed for 10m you add cook 3.5 and barry 2.0, basically that would work in a trade for Allen.
This is the best possible scenario because of the low risk, if it doesn't work, Ray Ray expires in 2010 and you are not stuck with him. All other scenarios such as Vince Carter or Stephen Jackson, or Hedo Turkglu, are all much higher risk cos if they don't work out you have a long bad contract preventing you from adding more pieces.
Might require a filler like Dorsey but will Boston have room for 3 or 4 players? If not who else could we get back along with him provided if the Celtics were really interested in Ron?
they would have room, they just need to let gabe pruitt and miki moore expire, and barry would be a rotation player for them anyway.
You can't demand anything if there is no market. It won't become a Verajao situation because Artest is free to go. He isn't restricted. He has no pull to force any kind of S&T. Like I said there is no market for Ron Artest at 10mil.
Ray would be an epic addition.. esp considering the fact that our offense is Yao focused.. when Ron is able to get so many shots.. I think Ray.. with all that cutting and running around screens .. would get more open looks than what Ron gets.. and i he wont miss too many open shots.. Cons-- Ray is not a playmaker.. he doesnt create offense.. atleast from what i saw.. if brooks continues his development.. then Ray would be perfect for us next season. What abt Turkgoglu (or whatever the spelling is) guys? why isnt anybody talkin abt him.. I would prefer Turk instead of Ray allen.. the guy can create and can shoot too..
another knee-jerk thread with tunnel vision. Getting Ray is a good idea, but trading Artest for it is bad. Look you can't asked to have everyone in NBA to join your team. Ray is a good player, but WE ARE NOT A TEAM THAT KNOWN FOR OFFENSE!!! Damn i hate ppl like you who know nothing about our team and go on and post craps like this. moreso, ppl who agreed with you need to play the BB game instead of posting here. Why did we have no many defensive minded players? answer that question before making ray for ron or whatever came up in your mind.
