Just want to say it was a great pick- very athletic, big time college player with guts and hops... I am so glad they didn't go for a so-so power forward... Like CD said any power forward they had picked at that spot would not have equalled what they could pick up for summer league (Lonnie Baxter) and they rolled the dice for Stromile and won. Huge victories for CD, JVG and us.
Best case scenario... The guy who interviews the dancers at Rick's Cabaret. ~she works hard for her money....so hard for it honey~
As a big Illini fan, the comparison we always made was to Gilbert Arenas -- who was one of the best 2nd round picks ever!
Best case scenario for head woudl be me sitting on my sofa watching the Rockets play.......oh you meant Luther Head? Seriously though he is a rookie who will make mistakes. He has looked pretty good in the pre-season but it is just that, pre-season. Most of his minutes have been against 2nd or 3rd string players or starters just going through motions. I will have to reserve my euphoria for after I see him play in the regular season against real competition when the games actually mean something. JVG has given Luther some good props to the press so that tells me he sees something there, but I wouldn't expect to see anything more then bench minutes for him until / unless he just evolves into a beast.
I see a lot of similarities with a younger David Wesley. Both are really strong, can play defense, drive and shoot the three. I don't know how much of a passer luther head is, but if he can average the same number of assists wesley did early on this is going to be a good season.
Luther really looks like a steal for the Rockets. His impact will likely be fealt more next year and after. In order for him to get playing time this year the Rockets would likely have to go to an 11 man rotation. I just don't see that happening.
What will pretty much happen before the half-way point in the season is that Luther Head will be eating away at Wesley's minutes, and will likely be given an opportunity to start a few times at the SG position if Anderson doesn't.
My hope for him is that he becomes the next Cat with court vision which would make him a borderline all-star.
I think the Orlando Magic would love to have him. Ha He reminds me of Cutino in his rookie year, the shooting, the D, and the fact that he looks a bit like he could be Cutino's little brother. Best case for Head this year is that he contributes and stays in the mix with all the guards who play. If he is good enough, maybe it allows Carol to work a trade at the Feb deadline using Sura or Wesely. and then he plays more.
Funny! I like this kid, I think he is a keeper, who may well become a major contributor. Seems fearless, tough, confident, and skilled. I like his play at the shooting guard best, so far. He is progressing more quickly than expected. I see a backcourt of Austin and Head in the Rocket's future. Anderson looks good too.
I think the same question was asked after the draft. So after watching the games I will stick with my first response. Best case scenario would be a shorter version of Rip Hamilton. Worst case is Luther Head the guy were seeing right now. Im happy.
Head is always the BEST case scenario! Of course, some would argue he was just as good if not better than his 2 other teammates drafted aHEAD of him. Time will tell, but he looks a lot better than Cuttino did at this point in his career, and Cuttino turned out to be a very good player.
Here's my best case scenario: I was in a bar in downtown Houston by myself enjoying my 5th scotch and watching a Rockets game. Luther Head scored a winning shot and there was noise everywhere. A sexy lady whispered to me, "Do you like Head?". I was so fired up and loudly said in reply, "Of course I love him, he's the future point guard of the NBA!!!". The lady walked away and said, "grow up boy!".
