I'd rather have the 04/05 Yao. 18 points 8 rebounds on 55% shooting in 30 minutes a game. Best of all, all 82 games. At least for the first 55-60 games of the season.

The blazers weren't trying to build around sabonis either. If u want servicable, cool, but u don't build around servicable.

If everyone can get back healthy next season, I honestly don't think anyone will need to be back to '06 or '05 or any other year's form...

We have three impressive rookies that can play the "energizer bunny" roles. We have a strong leadership core... all of whom just played their guts out while injured... and health combined with the experiences they've all just been through should make them a very close knit, battle tested group, able to not only over achieve, but excel as a team.

Team ball is the key. Healthy team ball. No need for any super hero stuff from Yao or Tracy until playoffs...

If this team can play consistent team ball all year, and stay healthy, then the playoffs can actually be a breeze when the "stars" turn it up.

I'd much rather see Yao average just around 20/10 and T-Mac get about the same, so long as Scola can average near that as well... mix in a few role players... play strong team defense...

    You've got 60-65 wins easily...

    IF

If they're all healthy and as close to 100% as possible.

I guess no other teams players will get better?

I think what we must understand is hat if Yao played like, he wouldn't last half a season.

Good post. I think the core of yao/scola/battier/tmac/alston + deke/landry/hayes/brooks can complete with any team.

On top of that, we can add a MLE player (backup 2/3), a 8M player by trading bj + head (backup 1/2), 1 first round pick (backup C).

That team is deep enough to let yao/tmac/battier/alston all play 30- minutes during regular season and still a top 3 team.
