Yeah I looked on Google a few weeks ago and supposedly there are but as you said, they're probably not very cheap. Plus, with some places you never know if its true kobe beef. The place I goto in Waco is like $4 for 2 sliders, its about the same as a 1/3lb hamburger. There are websites that sell it too. It's not too pricey if you buy some in bulk. But I would be worried about overcooking meat that expensive.
Max's Wine Dive on Washington has a Yama Kobe Beef Burger From there menu "Yama Kobe Beef Burger 8oz. Yama Farms Texas Kobe beef burger with Belletoielle triple cream brie, in-house pickled jalapenos, Texas tomato and organic bib lettuce on Kraftsmen brioche bun, served with Max’s famous frites $18"
I don't live in Houston but I do have a Ruby Tuesdays in the town I live and there are like a million other places I would rather have a burger from than that place. Hardee's/Carl's Jr. have better hamburgers than Ruby Tuesdays.
I used to eat there when I worked at a hospital in the area around 15-17 years ago. That place is dangerous... I believe the #6 combo nearly killed me several times... (I think it was the #6)
best burgers in htown: christians totem beck's five guys bubba's amazon grill southwell's (but it can be hit or miss, imo) pappa's makes a decent burger too never been to bellaire broiler or lankford or tornado so i cant comment on those.
they're opening up 3 other locations, one on buffalo speedway near 59, another wilcrest and westheimer, and one on eldridge near briar forest.
I might have gone overboard with rating Ruby Tuesdays an 8/10 for a burger but what i got was awesome. I havent tried all their burgers but what I did try was their ruby minis and they are really good. Sometimes people think the best burger to get might be at some gormet place or a mom and pop restaurant but a burger is not some special cuisine where you have to go to a nice restaurant to get. To be honest I rather go to whataburger than half the places i mentioned. Like I said, I went off of price, portion size, and most important of all taste. If you wanna try a really good home style burger you got to go to Tip Top in San Antonio,TX. The restaurant was on Guy's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
Ok I just had a Bacon Cheeseburger at 5 guys in Richmond/Rosenberg and It is OK. Nothing spectacular about it. Yes it's better than your Micky D's but thats about it. Pro's Clean atmosphere Free Peanuts Self Serve unlimited refills (lots of soda selection) Cajun seasoning on the fries Fries are a nice Fresh Cut version (really yummy) Cheese melts nicely on burger. Cons's What the hell they grill two itty bitty pieces of patty's (Is it even a 1/4 pound burger? Bacon = Could barely taste it. Plastic caps for Soda sucks They have self serve Ketchup but they don't have anything else you have to ask for it from the counter. ie. Mayo,Mustard. Should 5 guys be in the top 10 of burgers in Houston? Hell No. Best bacon burger you will ever taste is on Richmond / Chimney Rock " Petes Fine Meats " It is actually a Butcher Shop with a side deli. OMG it's damn good. Have yet to fine a restaurant/deli/burger joint close to it.
hmm I'm real curious how good it is. Supposedly the Yamagi herd (kobe beef cattle) in TX sucks. The guy that runs them dosen't feed them long enough and let the meat cure. Unfortunately, he's also the only guy with a 100% Yamagi herd in the US. The other herds are from mixed genetics, and will likely be the last here since Japan will no longer share the DNA with us.
I thought Kobe beef is where the cow is fed Saki and is massaged on a weekly basis for all the fat to distribute evenly.
That's just part of it. Kobe beef is actually from a particular type/breed of Wagyu cattle. There're also weight/fat/marbling requirements. You can't take any old cow, give it a beer and a massage and call it Kobe.
I'm not usually a big fan of Dairy Queen sammiches, but their Fiesta Texas (IIRC that's what it's called) burger is delicious. It's basically a taco served on top of a burger. Follow it with a Tagalong Blizzard, and I am in heaven.
