The main reason I said they sucked is the fact that I prefer Freebird's hot sauces, and didn't like the flavor of Chipotle's. From other responses in this thread though, it sounds like I need to find a Bullritos on the north side of HTown where I live.
Nope, I prefer Chipotle. I had Freebird's once and got food poisoning -- also, it didn't taste as good.
Freebird has like 70 locations now. I hear a lot of people complain that the quality of the one they go to sucks compared to Ones at TAMU, the one on Lamar in Austin, the one on Sheppard here in Houston. One thing Chipotle has down is consistency. Their stuff taste the same no matter where you go.
After hearing about Freebirds for so long from Aggie friends, I tried it a few years ago. I can't say it's something I crave or anything. It tastes ok for a "find everything you can and throw it on a tortilla" concept. I've tried a couple of Freebirds locations now and what I love the most is the hot sauce they put on the tables. That stuff is crack. I like Freebirds more than the one time I tried Chipotle. Isn't Chipotle a division of McDonald's?
Ok, so next time I'll end it with just a "/" I'm sure everyone will know what I'm talking about Nice use of "end end of thread" yourself. Is it annoying? I'm sorry, lets tell everyone to stop to make you happy. I'm sure everyone is willing to do whatever it takes to keep you satisfied, we'd hate to lose you! Pugs
It was an independent. Then it was acquired by McDonalds. Then it was sold by McDonalds and is independent again. I prefer Freebirds the best, but agree that none are crazy good addicting. They are decently priced, lot of food, solid flavor, quick. It's a good combination from a business perspective. None are high quality fine dining like taste, but I don't think they try to be. I feel the same about Subway, Which Which, Potbelly's...any kind of assembly line lunch place. The salad assembly line places are decent, too. I read recently that someone was doing an assembly line style pizza place.
I like the Mission on Durham. They have or used to have sauteed spinich and mushrooms that were awesome. I also think they had a fish or shrimp burrito too. Chipolte would be my next choice as thier quality of meats blows Freebirds out of the water. Freebirds carnitas is a stringy mess and they kind of hose you on the scoops. Also the sauces at Freebirds don't do it for me. The hot is very mild with little flavor. I've had Bullirots twice and I'm kinda up in thier air on them. Didn't dig the carne guisada, but do like the way they put the burrito on a grill press to crisp it up. I wish there was one closer on the Northsdie besides 1960 and 290.
Chipotle sucks. Freebirds is good. Mission is the best. Do yourself a favor and go to Mission Burrito.
Freebirds. the barbacoa is the freaking t***...and the bad ass bbq sauce..just so many unique options at freebirds. and the size is most impressive. chipotle is good.. but i'm never blown away, i get what i expect..and suprisingly im not always full when i leave. Mission Burrito is awesome.. i always get the burrito bowl..it's not as pricey as freebirds but not quite as tasty. have some awesome sauces.. I heard there is a place on the east coast called moe's that everyone rages about..maybe it's like their freebirds.
Half off on Mission Burrito for all bros + CF sistas out there in H-town https://www.voicedailydeals.com/r/x:d4c4w244
I know they don't have them in Houston, but Moe's Southwest Grille makes some pretty good "build your own" burritos. Unlimited chips and salsa with each order, too.
