I guess I would throw Yao Ming in the mix b/c he's Chinese, he must know karate or something like that.
come on now.. his fighting looked cheezy as hell. Maybe it was because he was up against a true legend but still. I think Bruce was being nice. I seriously doubt Kareem caused Bruce "trouble" with his length. He could easily slip inside his reach and throw a 1" punch and knock Kareem out.. haha hell if Chuck Norris was anywhere nearby.. he would be knocked out too.
dont act like rafer is just a push over i know for a fact Rafer can fight he used to fight all the time growing up my cousin used to play ball with him and against him in nyc and said rafer can throw em with accuracy and speed... but then again he didnt say if he could take a punch either
That sorta reconfirms that basketball players can't fight. Shaq missed a punch on a dude who didn't even know it was coming. When you can't connect with a sucker punch it is safe to say you cannot fight. Historically, NBA players fighting has been more comical than impressive or frightening. I'm sure there are a few who are natural fighters and some who have some training but by and large they are a group of tall, lanky guys who have no real experience with what to do with those arms in a scuffle. Even guys who have some boxing/boxers in their background (Artest, Larry Johnson) don't look like they really know what to do with their hands in a fight. Hell, Jermaine O'Neal had a running start and 255lb to put behind his sucker punch and the guy he hit got up and walked off.
Your wisdom and love of peace is at a low ebb and it is showing! No wonder the USA has a reputation as being a WARMONGER if you are the anything to go by.
I recall that Rudy T got sucker punched causing him to retire. I remember that Kareem couldn't beat Bruce Lee, but nonetheless, Lee liked sparring with Kareem because he had to figure out how to get past Kareem's reach.
Exactly. There are exceptions of course but all you have to do is look at the NBA 'fights' mixes. As Dave said, majority of them are just comical.
its laughable that most of you can draw conclusions on a basketball player's fighting skills from a few seconds of scuffling... I'm assuming you guys did not take into consideration that the players are amidst a basketball game and are probably tired and winded... Secondly there never is a chance for a full out fight since the refs and security would get in the way before anything happens... so if a player wants to get away with something it better be quick. you guys are going by a few seconds of fights that stop before they even began during a basketball game where most of the players are already tired. I want you guys to say the same thing with you and that player in a closed room with no distractions or interference...
THANK YOU! No if we can get as good of a reputation of a citizen killer as CHINA then we can have it all!
Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm just assuming too much, but I think I would bet on Shaq or Jermaine O'neal kicking your ass in a one on one fight.
I would hope so considering they are both a foot+ taller and have an insane amount of weight on me. What's your point?
Tired doesn't make you throw "roundhouse" punches. Being winded doesn't make you flail your arms like a girl. Did Larry Johnson (supposed boxing background) and Alonzo Mourning (supposedly one of the toughest, meanest SOBs in the league) slap fight with gay punches that were a foot short of connecting because they were tired? No. They just don't know how to fight. You most certainly can learn a great deal about how someone fights based on a few seconds. And why is it that the guys who think NBA players are UFC fighters start with the "I bet they can kick your a$$" when some of us disagree?
i dont know if all of our guys are 'brawlers' but lets explore the best 2 man tag-teams in the nba. also, lets rate this pound for pound so little guys get thier fair share. 1. HOU (ron-dorsey) should win automatically thanks to ron. runners up: CLE (lebron, big ben), DEN (ai, kmart), GSW (sjax, mason), UTA (brewer, milsap), WAS (butler, thomas).
Maybe true, but at the same time you have to think of the situation. They realize if they get in a grotesque fight there are major penalties to pay. They may be angry at each other, but they're probably holding back because they don't want to get suspended for forever. That'd be enough to make me hold back a little. Quit talking like you've followed these guys around in back alley's. I'm not saying I know they can fight, but assuming otherwise is naive. That said, yes our team could kick any teams' ass.
