I am also a big fan of Salinger's "A Catcher in the Rye," but my all time favorite is a book by the Japanese author, Haruki Murakami, called, "Norwegian Wood." Similar in vein to "A Catcher in the Rye" so if you liked that book you might like "Norwegian Wood."
Not a big reader, but I did enjoy these: "The Call of the Wild" - Jack London "The Martian Chronicles" - Ray Bradbury "The Iliad" - Homer "Misery" - Stephen King
Dune - Frank Herbert Hyperion - Dan Simmons (the whole series rules) Angels and Demons - Dan Brown Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card Sphere - Michael Crichton Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle The Pelican Brief - John Grisham (movie sucked) A Time to Kill - John Grisham Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson High Fidelity - Nick Hornby The Bourne Identity - Robert Ludlum (the sequels were "meh")

The Kite Runner Animal Farm Montmorency: Thief, Liar, Gentleman? The Lord of the Rings (All 4) I Am Legend
Loved the Harry Potter series. Loved the LOTR Series and the Hobbit Also, the Giant's star by JP Hogan Eight By Katherine Neville Berlin by Athony Beevor Lots of the Clive Cussler books (Great adventure reading) Wilbur Smith's Courtney sagas So many many more. DD
A Song of Ice and Fire series - George R. R. Martin Prince of Nothing series - R. Scott Bakker Malazan Book of the Fallen series - Steven Erikson World War Z - Max Brooks Alvin Maker series (the first few books) - Orson Scott Card Honestly, I can't get into Stephen's writing style and couldn't finish this book. I -love- the way he writes technology, though. If you like Cryptonomicon, you should read The Diamond Age.
One flew over the Cuckoos Nest - Ken Kesey I would put Sphere, by Michale Crichton on here but the ending ruined the whole book for me, very lazy I am really enjoying Undaunted Courage, by Stephen Amborse. Pretty cool to see the parallels in politics and life from then to now. Also cool to see that they took like 600 gallons of whiskey with them. . . . cant forget the essentials.
The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus - Orson Scott Card Speaks the Nightbird - Robert McCammon The Queen of Bedlam - Robert McCammon Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett World without End - Ken Follett The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - Susanna Clarke
