It's not as great as it used to be IMO. May be because my mom buys it almost every other weekend though and I'm sick of it.
I just ate there today lol... I've only had their bbq once, I always seem to order catfish from there.
you know i didn't recall seeing it last time i was there but i could have easily overlooked it..... it wasn't in the smoker we got our grub at, though.
The name rings a bell but I can't place the face. I haven't played out there in at least 5 years....but I sure have eaten there a lot since then!
A few other things..... --Thelmas is pretty damn awesome, and I love their catfish just as much as their BBQ. It's been a while...time for a trip downtown. --I ate at Pizzitola's on Shepherd a couple of weeks ago and was seriously disappointed. --Ditto with the Barbecue Inn on the northside and with Luling City Market (yukko) on Richmond a couple of months ago --I used to like Bakers Ribs on South Voss but it has declined lately --You can't go wrong with Goode Co. or Pappas if you do not want to trek out to Acres Homes or Downtown --Central Texas BBQ in Pearland is awesome. I ate there about a year ago. --I've heard good things about Brother In Laws BBQ on the eastside. Anyone ever been?
You didn't even get the best BBQ place in Kansas City! My favorite place ever is Arthur Bryant's. The combo sandwich is to die for, just make sure you go to the one in the hood instead of the one at the casino.
Brother in Laws is really good. Wednesday night is all you can eat Ribs night...and its much better than the Luthers Variety. The potato salad tastes industrial...but everything else is top notch.
Luling City Market is very good. Their sausage is awesome. Lyndons. Man, I haven't been there in years. Forgot about the place! Only place in town I think you can get pulled pork. Places I've been meaning to try (anyone ever been there): Gabby's off Shepherd between 610 & 34th. Baker's Ribs. Drive by all the time, but never stepped in.
Thanks for the info on Brother-in-Law's, Major Malcontent. I need to go out there one of these days. Toast, I have been meaning to try Lyndon's for a while now. It's right by my office. Might have to do it up tomorrow.
Salt Lick (at Red Rock Casino) was the best BBQ I had tasted here in Vegas...until I ate at Famous Dave's (which happens to be a big chain). FD's was fantastic!!!
This place is pretty good...I usually get their BBQ Baker...There Banana Pudding is good as is their deviled eggs...Hell, if you're able to go there, you might as well go to Joe's BBQ in Alvin...about another 10- 15 minute drive...
that place is awsome. I only had it once, 9 years ago, and I still would tell anyone those are the best ribs ever.
Naw, been there a hundred times. They're good but Gates' sauce is so much better. And Gates is much less greasy, for what that is worth. I knew Arthur before he passed and I knew Ollie fairly well. He used to hang out a lot at his restaurant there on the Parkway. Arthur was a great guy. And there is nothing that I have found here to even compare to that. It was the preferred spot by celebs and politicians when they came to town. But I still prefer Gates myself. I don't know what it is that they do to the meat up there but somehow it has that smokey BBQ taste while not being dried out. The places I've tried down here all seem to get the meat dried out too much and then they slice it in slabs instead of those microthin slices which are good on a sandwich. You know for $7-8, you can get one of those big combo sandwiches up there. They are twice again the sandwich you pick up at Luther's/Pappas. How in the world people think Luther's had such good BBQ is beyond me. That stuff was considered fast food right next to McDonalds in KC.
I've been eating at Barbecue Inn my whole life and can count on one hand how many times I've had the BBQ there. The fried shrimp on the other hand are my favorite in the city.
I hear ya. I've eaten there three times, but the only time I had their BBQ, it was pretty lame. I'm with you on the fried shrimp. Damn tasty.
My top three are 1) Salt Lick in Austin 2) Iron Works in Austin 3) County Line in Houston (only place I can score beef ribs in H-town) Anyone know were 2 score beef ribs beside county line???
