1. The Band 2. Bob Marley and the Wailers 3. AC/DC If we're including solo artists, I'd go for Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell in a three-way tie.
A-Train, perhaps next time you can add a definition or "band" for all these freakers voting in "Shakira" or "Gloria estefan" (that would be Miami Sound Machine, even though they were mostly Cuban but some from U.S.A., so they shouldn't count) or "Sarah MacLachlan"... My Pick: MANá - MEXICO (Café Tacuba a close 2nd, MOLOTOV a close 3rd) Is Eurrythmics from Europe, or is that just the name?
Yeah, they are. After Clumsy, Gravity's probably my favorite album by them. One of the few cds that I can listen to every track. I didn't really like Spiritual Machines. The singles were good, but for the most part I didn't really like the rest of the nonsense on that disc.
The Tragically Hip are one of my favorites, although they started going downhill after Day For Night.
1) Bob Marley (jamaica) 2) AC/DC (australia) 3) The Band (canada) 4) Rush (canada) 5) Our Lady Peace (canada)
I second that (see my screen name!). Plastilina Mosh from Mexico is also good. And of course, U2 and AC/DC, even though they've been mentioned many times.
I was just naming anyone I could think of not from the U.S. or England. My single vote for best band goes to Rush and Rush only.
Maybe Tinariwen from the Sahara? They've got a gig here in Austin at the PAC (can you call the PAC a gig?) Guess my java isn't working but they have some music here: http://tinariwen.calabashmusic.com/# Looks like they impressed the Brits.
I thought SOAD was classified as an American band. I know that Serj was born in Lebanon, but the guy who writes most of their music (Daron) was born here. So I guess they are an Armenian-American band. I believe the formed in LA about 10 years ago.
