Well, you’ve left a lot of room with those parameters. Here are a few of my favourites. For new indie music: The New Pornographers Broken Social Scene Arcade Fire Wolf Parade Stars Destroyer Neko Case Chick singers: Sarah McLachlan Alanis Morissette Jann Arden Loreena McKennitt For post-rock: GYBE Silver Mt. Zion Do Make Say Think Others: Neil Young Joni Mitchell The Band Rush kd lang Leonard Cohen Guy Lombardo Jazz vocalists: Diana Krall Michael Buble For main stream commercial music, which isn’t my fave but it clearly is for a lot of people: Nickelback Celine Dion Bryan Adams And all of these are Canadian bands and artists, (except Neko Case who is American but her music career started and became established in Canada.) There are many more prominent bands I’ve missed too.
Thank you for mentioning this. Of course, this isn't a problem where you are... but, around here, I feel like the only person who knows they had more than one song. Or who has nearly all the albums and actually likes them more for musical reasons than political reasons.
I know I'm forgetting multitudes, but favorites off the top of my head. The Soundtrack of Our Lives Hot Hot Heat Teenage Fanclub The Delgados
Well if we are going to include solo artists, then this list starts and ends with Neil Young - thread over.
Went to crap with "Gravity", unfortunately How about some love for the French? Air and Daft Punk are awesome
For the majority of my music-appreciating life, they have been my favorite hands down. That's changing, but I still love their work.
have all there albums, including Blue Sky Mine signed by Peter Garrett after had been sitting at our kitchen table, great guy.... there music was awesome, amazingly intense energy especially in the early years and then mellowed over time but the melodies got much better did you know Peter Garrett is now a member of Parliment here downunder
Rush, U2, AC/DC, Midnight Oil, INXS, Bob Marley, Scorpions, The Cranberries, Brian Adams, Celine Dion (God help us), Shakira
I own four Midnight Oil CD's. Saw them live at place out on Richmond. Small venue, great show. Long after the popularity of Diesel and Dust had faded. Their polictical??? Just kidding.
