snobs. in brooklyn we're lucky to have four walls, running water, and electricity. if you have a bedroom that is separate from the kitchen it's a bonus.
And what do you pay in rent/mortgage and how big is your place? So, you can ride your bike downtown. I'm so sure you ride it to work, running errands like grocery shopping or out for the night, especially in mid-June through early-October Austin heat. I can ride my bike down there too.....when I want to go do so. Central Austin has a Heights-type feel to it, but unless you work or go to school at UT, paying a premium to live central/downtown, in a much smaller and no doubt much older place is insane. To each his own though I'm in the DaDa camp as I like to have the best of both worlds.
No, I cannot. However, I wouldn't recommend riding your bike (especially with your kiddos) on FM 1826. (By the way, I'm married without kiddos...) I'd still like to see your definition of "central."
I live in a nice, but older (and completely remodeled), 3/2. Mortgage is $1200. Yes, I ride my bike to work sometimes. I work 1.3 miles from my house. I also ride my bike to bars and restaurants which are very near my house. I drive to the grocery store (there are several within 2 miles of my front door including Sun Harvest, Crestview Minimax, HEB and Whole Foods). I was born and raised in Texas and I fear the cold, not the heat.
FYI: The average 1 bedroom apt. in Austin rents for $656 btw. http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/TX-Austin.html
when is your plan move date? they are building another Gables on 360, GABLES WEST LAKE. http://www.apartmenthomeliving.com/apartment-finder/Gables-Westlake-Austin-TX-78746-56651 you should go down and tour your choices.
End of May 2008, thanks, do you recommend any of the apts. on that apartmentratings.com page? They all look great as well, that Marquis at Barton Creek looks great!
man you got awhile. that's a nice place. that list looks really old. apartments.com is way better this is a good place down south http://www.apartments.com/summary.a...7&qsearchtype=1&srt1=0.65&srt2=0.10&srt3=0.78
Nothing wrong with planning ahead, 2008 will be here before you know it, plus I'm coming for Thanksgiving to snoop around for the weekend...
Ditto on Hyde Park, you can probably get a 1/1 for around ~$800. The Enfield/Exposition area's a good second alternative. West Campus has pretty much been destroyed with all the noise from the teardowns and construction from 21st to 24th. My biggest advice is to avoid Riverside like the plague.
aint this the truth. austin has a lot going for it, but really good food aint one of them. i always find it amusing when the austinites rave on and on about some of their beloved eateries only to find out that they're decent at best.
