Look, I don't care if they're not from the US and I know it goes against the thread title, but after seeing all these great bands mentioned, I have to see LED ZEPPELIN on the list. Best band ever, period, American or not.
Where's the GLAM? Poison - "hit it, C. C.!" Cinderella (brit?) Stryper - guitar solos and duets to rewind over and over WhiteSnake and everybody y'all said. (oops, maybe this goes in the '80's thread)
I don't know maybe these aren't "Rock and Roll" in the classical sense. Pavement Nirvana R.E.M. Velvet Underground Replacements Pixies Soundgarden Mercury Rev Flaming Lips Sonic Youth Neil Young Husker Du Talking Heads Fugazi
Manny -- just curious...do you like DMB? It kinda surprises me that you wouldn't...particularly since you have a new found love of jazz music. I'm thinking you'd really dig the whole fusion thing.
Max, I do have 2 DMB albums, "Under the Table and Dreaming" and "Crash". I guess I have never really gotten into DMB that much but I do think he is a good musician. I hadn't bought any CDs in a LOOOONG time (at least for me), so maybe I will start listening to these 2 albums again.
Heh, you sound EXACTLY like me 6 months ago. I've had Crash for years but never really listened to it. Then in March, a friend played Busted Stuff on the way back from an out of town gig and I was converted. Now I have all their studio albums and 2 of their live albums and they're all I listen to at work. I've been truly converted! I'm still in shock from their Houston show...
Actually, they were formed in Ireland but the guy who actually is the band was born in New York and moved overseas at an early age.
They're Canadian Everyone who forgot to mention Grand Funk Railroad has to go back and take that Rock-n-Roll 101 class over again We're comin' to your town, we're gonna party down, we're an American Band...
We should just say best North American Rock-n-Roll bands so that we can include Canadiens and Mexicans like BTO and Mana. I think everybody I would have said has been mentioned. Did somebody say Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers?
