What about the poor kids who couldn't afford Transformers?

Well if we're strictly looking at American shows

I'll have to say Transformers, with GI Joe being a close second

But there were plenty of other memorable stuff like BraveStar for example

I still remember sitting there in disbelief for the first 30 mins or so of the movie we my brother took to watch it as a kid. Even now that was a pretty brutal start to that movie considering it was for kids, don't think you'd seen anything close to that again from a kids show.

These weren't the 80's, but they've been mentioned and were better than the others. They were shown in the '80's.

Number 1 by far was Speed Racer.

yep had to order it from the UK though but its region free its by far the best quality print I have seen for the movie, you may know how there were several different prints that were good and bad in their own rights.

They were replaced with such classics such as spongebob squarepants and pokemon. :p

    planes = Arialbots

    me=nerd

For me it was Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats, the TMNT. :)

There was a cartoon that I watched when I was a kid that had to do with robots but instead of transforming, they would have these gears(?) or something that they could connect to themselves...or something like that. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

And how about Dangermouse? Did any of you watch that?

Transformers is still the best. So many cool parts to that show - even though it was one of the best examples of the '30 minute commercial' - that made it awesome.

Not only the cool different robots, but how different they were. Like how I knew Starscream was a weaselly, cowardly backstabbing SOB that even Megatron couldn't trust. And of course:

Pretty crazy to throw at the kids out of nowhere. This stuff was awesome.

It's so sad that kids don't get to grow up with the joy of Saturday Morning Cartoons anymore.

I blame that crap Power Rangers.

but i dont think after school cartoons are on anymore either

when I was a kid there was plenty of after school cartoons

    gummi bears
    tale spin
    duck tales
    darkwing duck
    chip n dale rescue rangers
    quack pack
    goof troop
    bonkers
    tiny toon adventures
    bobbys world
    animaniacs
    freakazoid
    histeria
    tmnt
    batman the animated series

i remember when i was sick and stayed at home a few months back i turned on the tv at like 3 or so and all that was on were talk shows and all during what was normally "kids" time from 3-5pm

i have no idea if they still have saturday morning stuff or not.

i feel its a crime in some ways

it was pretty awesome the GIJoe movie was going to kill off quite a few main characters as well but the general reaction, mostly in the way of new toy sales, to the Transformer slash and burn approach made them rethink the approach. They decided to take a safer approach with the GIJoe animated flick and keep the favs out of any danger.

Damn dude, didn't know about that UK bluray! Have to get me one now! I know there have been various crap editions of the movie but the last one I have isn't horrible but hardly great either, it's the most recent collectors edition that came out before the live action flick.
