You realize that they're two totally different subjects, right? I have HOH (actually have all three) and it's a very good book too. But sngs are easier to beat than mtts imo. Basic strategy comes down to... push, fold, fold, fold, push, get lucky, fold, fold, fold, push, get lucky, win. Almost no post flop play compared to multi-table tournaments. And is it really a complete waste of time if the person reading it doesn't have any extensive knowledge of the game?
I'm going to be starting college in about a week and recently asked myself the exact same question. I did some searches and decided to start trying online surveys. I registered at like 12 survey websites that offer money for surveys.. and within the first week I got an offer to carry around a palm pilot for 2 weeks.. and record on it everything that I drink. In return they're going to send me $60. There are other sites on which I make probly about $2 per survey... but there are only so many surveys that they invite me to do. It's really hard to find a site that pays you good. It's not gonna have me stackin or anything.. but it's not bad.
where do i sign up? and this just sounds almost too good to be true...anyone else have experience with this?
What I did is I went to Surveyclub.com ... when you register there they have a list of 25 or so paid survey sites. Register with as many of them as you can until you get familiar with which ones actually offer you money. Just a fair warning, though: I would create a new e-mail account to register with at survey sites, or else your inbox can get pretty flooded from survey sites.
I'll agree that HOH may not be a beginners guide to SnG's. But I disagree with your approach to SnGs. Certainly postflop play is crucial. One marginal call or raise can be lethal. Luck is more of a variable, than say MTT's no doubt. I read SnG strategy by Moshman, and yes, it is a complete waste of time, even for a novice.
Sell plasma? I think they'll give you around $25 per visit, more if you find a good place. Max twice a week.
Postflop play is useless in a SnG. You have no idea what you are talking about. Go read some ICM theory, or read some of Gidders stuff on p5's.
Buy a share, sell your old stuff on eBay (Oh man I can't tell you how many things I've sold on eBay and have been surprised on how much I've got for them), or just plain resell items that you find are hot on the market.
Do you have money that you could invest in the future? You know how every year there's one toy that goes crazy around Christmas and you think...man I wish I had a few of those I could sell? Well rumor is this year it is going to be "Elmo Live." I actually bought 2 of them and am going to resell them closer to Christmas, hopefully I'll make a nice profit. Here is the link, $65.99+free shipping So spend $132 now, and hopefully sell for $300+ in a few months. Worst comes to worst, I'll donate them. Pugs
Well the solution to that problem is: be the music director. Check the want-ads, call local churches, beat the bushes. You never know when a church is about to lose/fire their music director and is desperate for someone to fill the position. There's no magic formula to getting a directing gig. It just takes perseverance. But it's a nice side income (my gig pays about $14,000 per year for approx. 5 hours per week).
