I guess the trade for Daniels has fallen through or hit a snag.

    Yes, Damon Jones.

    That was all he reported.

I am sure the Rockets are still trying to get Daniels. Jones is probably the fall back option if they cant get things worked out with Seattle.

Jones wouldn't be too expensive, so we could probably get him for part of the MLE and still sign Daniels... although that would give us 4 PG's (unless we trade one or if Gaines is more a SG in JVG system). Maybe trade Lue or Gaines for Daniels.

After all the speculation on Daniels, I was looking foward on getting him in a Rockets jersey.

    Damn.

Damon Jones is number 2 in assist: turnover and he's younger than Antonio Daniels.

The Rockets might consider Jones a poor man's Chauncey Billups. That guy bounced around quite a bit and finally got his act together in Detroit.

Jones isn't Barry, but he keeps his turnovers low and is a good shooter. He was a better than average shooter in Milwaukee last season and he didn't get NEARLY the open looks he would get in Houston.

He isn't the big deal Barry or even Daniels would be but he could be a solid, inexpensive pickup. The only thing that concerns me is his defense.

Very briefly. Never made it out of training camp a couple years back.

I think this is actually good news. I like Jones better than Daniels.

He spent a training camp with us. Played well. Right before the season started he was traded to Detroit (I think). He was dissappointed because he is from Galveston. At the time the Rockets didn't have a place for him. I would think he would love to play here.

It wasn't just that. It was also that Moochie was being paid guaranteed money.

If Jones is motivated to come back and play, he has the right basic skills. He's big enough to be a good defender. He's athletic and can run the floor. He passes well and doesn't turn the ball over. He's a terrific shooter when open.

He wouldn't have been my first pick, but he's a solid player.

I agree. But I don't remember him being a good defender. I hope you are right.
