So, the ambulance chasers are trying to say that this info is the same as depositions in McDonald's coffee or Wal-mart slip and fall cases. Sure, whatever gets Sandy Sticky Fingers out of Trousergate I guess.
So, the ambulance chasers are trying to say .. that only Republicans loyal to the President can get away with lying, cheating, stealing, breaking the law, etc. Democrats try any of that nonsense and they go to jail.
More info: apparently he was reviewing copies of documents at the request of the Commission for privilege issues (presumably executive?): http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/20/politics/20CND-BERG.html?hp
Oh god...not the "gate" reference...that is getting as bad as Hitler or Nazi flung into a post--Watergate, Nipplegate, Free-agent-market-talking-to-Charlie-Ward-gate...
That's way too many "inadvertently"s for me. The article must have established a record for that word. I know it sucks when I inadvertently stuff docs in my socks and in my trousers. Actually, I am sure it is all so innocent. Here's what happened. Sandy Burglar was drugged by Ashcroft and immediately flown to Halliburton headquarters on a Carlyle owned SR-71 where he was brainwashed by Roger Ailes, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and 7 members of the Bin Laden family. He was then placed in a holding cell with Elton John and Linda Ronstadt before being released to tell his story to right-wing hatemongers.
by the way, have you been to castleberry's right up the street? my brother-in-law owns it. personally, i'll take green mesquite as far as places a stone's throw away from one another.
No, I haven't. Is it any good? Green Mesquite is a pretty good for lunch. Not the best BBQ in town, but it's tasty and they have pretty good Bergers and chicken fried steak.
it's good, your basic boar's head sandwich shop. they have a nice patio and sometimes live music. just want to plug the guy's place you know. he's a really cool guy, not to mention he's married to my sister, and i just hope the place makes it. i think it's a tough business. i don't live in austin so i don't hear any objective feedback.
No more Berger http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040720/ap_on_el_pr/berger_kerry just Beers.
You're right about it being a tough business. A friend of mine, who's usually investing money for wealthy people, decided to make a change and bought a BBQ place in Westlake. He figured he knew about the business end and loved BBQ, so wtf? Six figures later, in the red, he found out it was a time eater as well as a money eater. I wouldn't want to be in the restaurant business, after seeing what happened to him. Now he's back to doing what he knows how to do. He had good Bergers, though. I'll try and check it out Castleberry's.
But I thought you said this was a non-story? Please explain why he would step down on account of a non-story. PANIC MODE
Ho ho ho! Your smiley face is a thin disguise for your frustrations as you gaze down upon your defeated carcass of an argument. The day you declare it a non-story is the day that the man is forced to step down and is humiliated on a national level for allegedly stuffing secret documents in his clothing. Your partisan knee-jerk defense of this thief has truly exposed your liberal shortsightedness. SamFisher, you have been PROVEN WRONG
Thanks for proving my point! Now this "story" will fade to nothingness, but your asinine behavior will remain. Back to the trial lawyer theme for you. Edit: thanks again!
While I think what Berger did was very wrong, it’s quite a different MO than that of some people. The man admits a mistake Fesses up to it returns what he took does the honorable thing and steps down (from an informal advisory role) and pledges to cooperate in any way he can with the investigation Wish some other people had that kind of integrity and honor.
Look, Karl Rove, go get Bush or Cheney to explain why NORAD was down on the morning of 9/11/01 or why it took more than an hour for fighter craft to respond to commercial aircraft deviating from their flight plans when, a couple years before, it took less than 20 minutes for fighters to reach Payne Stewart's wayward itty-bitty plane; or have Bush or Cheney apologize for taking us to war against the wrong Ay-rabs..... Admittedly, Berger made a mistake, especially since he should have known that any connection with Clinton and wrongdoing will hit the front page (liberal media? only in TJ's mind).
Again this begs the question. Why now? The investigation has been going on since October. Why is this now hitting the press? Two days before the release of the 911 report and a week before the Democratic convention? Just seems weird.
