He'll get suspended for one game, no more than that.

My worry is...could my beloved UT be turning into the Switzer-era Oklahoma Sooners? Will we soon be reading about UT football players firing guns out of the windows of the Athletic dorms?

    Gawd, I hope not!

If Simms is such a big bad Heisman candidate/high draft choice, he shouldn't need Benson. Major didn't need him to beat Washington.

Isolated incident. Matter of fact, I don't know many 19 year olds who don't drink or smoke pot.

Isn't most pot or off the field incidences, "isolated"? Unless the whole team is smoking out together at the same time...

Was Benson drug tested? Did cops actually see weed on him?

If not, then this might not be over...

I know a lot of UT fans who piss on other schools like FSU, OU, etc. for their off the field incidents.

I hope this shows them that just about any college program that has 18-23 year old kids are liable for something like this.

I can't speak for the others, but I don't think Simms is a Heisman candidate or deserves to be a high draft choice. He has the name and the size, but his play against ranked opponents (where the Heisman is decided) has sucked ***. If he didn't put up numbers against A&M'00 and CU'01 (the first game), I'd label him a permanent choker/bust.

To quote William Munny, "Deserves got nothin' to do with it."

One (draft) is based on potential, the other is hype.

humphrey and cavil left the team because they failed an NCAA drug test, a test that brings with it a mandatory 1-year suspension [this according to a poster at the-university.com].

that's very different from ced's situation.

with my very limited knowlege of the law, there are a number of variables that could be at work here as to the degree of cedric's "guilt".

This is bad, but surely UT alum can grease some Midland judges or something (if the judge himself isn't an alum). The wild card is I have heard there are some real wild cat judges out in WTexas--especially about drug charges. Mac needs to institute a zero tolerence off-campus underage drinking or drug use policy. (I guess if the players don't live in athletic dorms some exceptions could be instituted.)

    Oh.
    My.
    God.

He had almost TWO OUNCES of mar1juana! Gasp!

    Big ****ing Deal.

I'm sure if the officials refuse to call holding, and allow Texas' lineman to grab and hold on to pass rushers, Simms might put up some damn good numbers too.

Well, they'd have to win a championship first to turn into the Sooners;)

Also, my bet is that Mack sits him out a quarter or too:rolleyes:
