Foster should give at least half of his salary to Kubiak.

McCain may have quietly been the 2nd best corner on the team last year- what a differance from 2 years ago. Too bad he is a nickel corner. Kareem better step up again . . .but yea, we may need to draft again if someone is there

If we can't fill the hole Jason freaking Allen leaves we don't deserve to win.

    McCain, Kareem, Harris, Carmichael.

Somebody has to freaking be able to sack up out of that group.

DM, do you think "nickel corners" can expand their roles to become regular corners? We got some good play out of nickels, the only question is can a nickel be more than a nickel?

Jason Allen was a nickel platooning with Kareem as a #2.

We honestly have diddly behind JoJo.

The difference is, our great front 7 covered up that weak link last year.

I suspect the same can be done this year.

I would too......ur obviously missing the point. The Bengals already had their Franchise CB in leon hall. It just so happens he got injured last year. Joseph had the best year of his career this past season. Lets hope he keeps it up....for texans fans sake.

How am I missing the point?

Would the Bengals rather have JoJo instead of Jason Allen?

Yes. They were hoping to pair him and Hall together for a long time and were really hacked that he signed here without even bothering to negotiate with them.

Anybody remember this lulzy jewel the day after the Texans signed him?

In this exchange of free agents, Texans > Bengals. That's the only point there is.

McCain is the nickel corner and they loved him in that position, so I don't see that changing.

Harris was drafted to be the nickel corner and really had no chance once McCain really improved this season. Alot of teams wanted this guy, so we'll see how he pans out. Atleast he'll be a hard worker since most likely, Andre will take him under his wing and etc. If you didn't know, AJ's high school coach was Harris's dad so he idolized AJ. Hopefully some of that can rub off on him.

KJ had a decent season, but his ball skills still aren't that great. He can cover, but he doesn't notice when the ball is coming.

Allen has great ball skills but was an average cover guy and he gambles alot from what I remember.

Allen is a good signing for 8 million dollars.
J Joseph has also turned out to be a good signing at 50 million.

The Bengals did not want to invest 100 million dollars into 1 position. That is the point. It worked out well for both teams.

Yes, they did. Maybe not that much money (certainly wouldn't have been), but they got spurned by Joseph. Trying to say otherwise is just silly.

Allen is not a starting caliber NFL corner. Only reason he even saw the field last year was because Kareem sucked so hard.

That's his claim to fame. Jason Allen - slightly better than Kareem Jackson.

That's like the Texans saying we're happier paying Jacoby $10M/3 yrs instead of Calvin Johnson $120M/7

You're overpaying Jason Allen by about $7M. You'd have been better off keeping Pacman.

Jason Allen's rookie contract paid him an average of 4 million a year. And that was for a 16th overall pick with all the promise in the world in front of him.

Now that he has proven to be a bust, the Bengals pay him 4 million a year, AGAIN???

    Bungles...

It's not really that serious. Allen will mostly play nickel and is insurance in case Leon Hall isn't 100% at the start of the season.

Sure he's over-paid, but Cincinnati has a ton of cap room and pretty much has to overpay to get anyone to play there.

What's interesting is in the next couple of years you will probably see a lot more contracts like this that have people scratching their heads. Because soon the rule that forces teams to spend at least 90% of the salary cap will be in play and teams won't be able to roll into the season with 20-30 mil in available cap room. Sometimes the best scenario will be to overpay some guys in order to get there. Plus, the salary cap will go up signficantly in the next two years, so contracts will eventually follow.

Allen was the 2nd best corner on a great defensive team that advanced in the playoffs. If you don't think he is worth a mere 8 million over 2 years you should look around the league and see the type of contracts average players are getting. In any case i can tell the homerism is coming out by the likes of donny so i'll just stop texans are amazing bengals suck hooray
