The more disconnected/unfamiliar the person who dies is, or the way they die, usually the less personally tragic that person will see that particular death.

A lot of people here follow the NFL.

A lot of people here have had woman problems before.

And, well, a lot of people have probably had some kind of car accident before.

Soooo... it hits a lot closer to home than Chinese-BMXer I think.

Sounds like he was wasted and she was running for her life.

    Sad story.

Def not surprised, and moderately sad. Trouble finds trouble as I say, and my sympathy for him is not overflowing. I am even having trouble calling this tragic.

While I feel sad for his children I reflect on this situation and see that even if she tried to fling him off her truck, she had to have been running from something. And he chased. Which shows that he is the aggressor, and in her fear tried to get him off her car.

I hope her children dont end up hating her for killing their dad without knowing the big picture.

Ochocinco says everything he does for the rest of the year will be to honor Henry. He basically said he'll have a jersey with him on Sunday, so expect something nice in that matter. He says the NFL will understand...

Honestly, with the Texans out of the playoffs(basically) I can't help but root for Cincy to win the whole thing.

I'm liking Ochocinco more and more these past few weeks. The guy, as crazy as he is, is real, he's funny, and for the most part (when he's not trying to pump himself up by pulling stunts), a class act.

You may roll your eyes but look at his rap sheet, the guy has never been a model citizen and has had multiple run ins with the law in regards to violence. You dont run away from someone without fear and the police acknowledged it was a domestic dispute.

Either way you want to look at it she was running away from him and that showed she was afraid of what he might do. The fact he gave chase does not bode well for any sort of argument for his case.

Entitled to your own feelings or opinions, but I don't have any emotional connection for that team nor wish them luck or plan to root for them. Football alone is going to be a struggle for the team the rest of the year, depending on how they deal with this.

I was a big Sean Taylor fan, and that situation was certainly tragic and unfortunate, yet rooting for the Redskins was never a thought. That doesn't mean "rooting against." That means indifferent.

I really held out on posting this. For one, people would say personal bias (even though I didn't know Chris Henry whatosever). Also, I never expected anything other then prayers and positive comments in this thread. I thought the media had accurately portrayed how he had made a transition in his life, but sadly a few posters want to gloss over this and focus on the negative. That's unfortunate. I would like to share a very positive encounter I had with Chris Henry.

Chris and three of his friends decided to travel to Vegas to watch a major prize fight. None of them were credentialed, but they did have very good seats. After the fight, many people want to participate in the press conference, after party, ect.. Obviously, many people feel a sense of entitlement. It makes these situations extremetly difficult. As most of the crowd was being filed out, there were a few people who were intoxicated (not Chris) and were very eager to enter the post fight presser. Hotel security is hit and miss so sometimes it becomes a major hassle. Chris Henry assumed the role of speaker for the group. I didn't recognize him at all. Furthermore, when I heard who it was I cringed. I had my mind already made up. I couldn't stand Chris Henry. I wanted them nowhere near my fighter or the presser for that matter. I wanted them gone. As Chris approached me I made jokes to other people in our camp about him. No chance he lasts five minutes. Then he started speaking. Not at all what I expected. He apologized for his friends, was extremely humble, and actually wanted nothing to do with the after party. He just wanted to get the chance to attend the presser. He never pulled the "Do you know who I am" card, he just asked if he could watch the presser. He was polite and very respectfull. He continously apologized for his friends. I felt horrible for pre-judging him. Needless to say, I went to get them VIP passes.

They could have partied the night away with those, but Chris was a man of his word. Not only was he extremely grateful, but he made sure to usher out his wasted buddies without any comotion. It was a really weird thing to digest. This was a guy whom I had said so many negative things about. Yet he was a guy I would have no problem giving full access to my fighters fights next time he came around. Sadly, that situation never presented itself.

RIP Chris Henry. I respect how you came full circle as a man. May Gold bless your family in this difficult time.

    Great story King.

Just out of curiosity, how long ago was that?

From everything his teammates have said, the guy was portrayed in such a negative light, but was nothing like that personally. It seems like he was just a case of an immature person thrust into something that an immature person never should be.

Hell, look at what happened to the person who my moniker is named after, Eddie Griffin.

At least Chris Henry tried to change. Apparently, being a "good guy", or a "good person" doesn't bring you enough credit when you're a celebrity. It's sad how much society feeds off negative news.

    RIP.

Neighbor says Henry may have intentionally jumped from truck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police interviewed a witness Thursday evening who may change the course of the Chris Henry investigation.

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver died Thursday after he fell out of the back of a pickup truck a day before. That truck was driven along Oakdale Road by his fiancee, Loleini Tonga.

Tonga returned to her home for a brief moment Thursday afternoon. Friends say she has been incredibly distraught since the accident.

Police say the couple was arguing over wedding plans when Tonga allegedly sped off in a pickup truck. Henry was in the bed of the truck, trying to get her to stop.

"And he was demanding, 'We need to talk,'" said neighbor Lee Hardy.

Hardy says he was trimming a tree very close to the driveway of the Tonga home. The truck stopped about 30 feet away. He says Henry was yelling.

"'We need to talk. We need to talk.' She was saying, 'No, I don't want to talk. Get off the truck,'" Hardy said.

The truck pulled off. Soon afterward, a woman driving behind the pickup called 911: "I need a police officer on Oak Road. I'm riding behind a yellow truck. It's an F-150 ... It's got a black man on it with no shirt on and he's got his arm in a cast. He's got some black pants on. He's beating on the back of this truck window and the truck is driving. I don't know if he's trying to break in it or something. It just looks crazy. It's a girl driving it."
Listen: First 911 Call | Second call
Before the truck sped away, Hardy heard a comment that adds suicide to the potential list of causes of the accident.

"He said, 'If you take off I'm going to jump out and kill myself,'" Hardy said.

Police interviewed Hardy Thursday evening. Officers called the retired DMV employee credible and said his story is consistent with some of the other facts they have gathered during the investigation.

A tad over two years ago. I admittedly had made many a joke about Henry and Pacman rooming together ect.....If I had my originial choice, I would have never spoke to him. It's a real eye opener. I've seen more negative things then I care to remember, but this man was genuine. I honestly felt bad about my comments. Never can I recall I situation anywhere close. Admittedly, I cried when I heard of his passing to day. It still happens periodically when I see pictures of him and his family. This is someone who I didn't know personally. It's definitely someone who made me take a step back and not judge a book by it's cover. This man made an impact on my life inderectly. Rarely can your ever say that.

If anyone wants to hear the 911 calls the cincinnati television websites have them.

Chris wasn't a bad person.. he just made stupid mistakes multiple times. I will admit, and I probably posted it here that it was dumb on a number of levels to resign him after Marvin said he didn't want him back. But it was never because I thought he was a bad guy, I just thought he would never break from the people who continually got him into trouble.

The entire news here tonight was about Chris and his family and the teams reaction.

It really saddens me how people feel that it's okay to say things on the internet that are callous and cruel, because they figure it's okay.

    It's not okay.

And moes.. you are right... **** 2009! it can end any time now.

    Exactly.

There is a human toll that will be had to this. Mommy was driving when Daddy fell and died. All of this right before Christmas.

There is NOTHING funny about this. Anybody that finds this funny is deeply disturbed.

Thank you for pointing out the holidays to put a little perspective to this.

I don't know if I'll believe that it was suicide. The guy had a lot going for him, changing his life around and all....three kids...about to be married....
