Are you comparing Ben Wallace to Shaq? Ben Wallace is the most overrated player in the NBA, possibly of this generation.
Oh come on, Ben, stop making excuses, just give credits to yao who held you to season low 1point and 5 rebounds!
I don’t think that Ben is overrated, look at Detroit, same exact team except without him. He fit the system well and was an important part of their success, he gave them the swagger, was a fan favorite with his fro (think moochie except without the success). On the other hand, I've always been a huge Kentucky Wildcat fan and when I heard that Chuck Hayes had joined our team last year, the first thing I did was call my brother to celebrate our "man crush" on this guy. The fact that a player from our favorite college team had joined our favorite NBA team was surreal. But, living in San Antonio, having the many Spurs friends that I have, I tend to over hype Rockets players, and Hayes maybe overrated to other fans. However, he is essential to our success just as Ben Wallace was to Detroit. Chuck could give you 6 point 10 reb. and all of his productivity wouldn’t show up on the stat sheet. I am very happy that everyone here values the play of Chuck, this guy was undrafted and came to start for a top West team. This is the epitome of a "rags to riches" story, it gives a team swagger and that is the intangible "it" that we need from role players. Did Ben deserve his huge contract? Who knows, if he gives the Bulls the much needed identity other than being the cute Baby Bulls, then yes.
Who's better, Dennise Rodman or Ben ? Both are rebound monsters, and both can't score. But who's better? Ben enjoys max salary w/ his new contract, but can you imagine Rodman got a max contract w/ the Bulls then ?
Ben is better than Rodman because he doesnt bring the excess baggage of BS. When I think of Rodman, I see one of the most gifted athletes and at the same time reminded of a time when the Bulls were ahead by 20 points at the end of third quarter, and Phil clears the bench and rests Pippen, MJ, and Rodman, but somehow the opposing team makes a comeback and Phil sends back his starters. Only problem is that Rodman gave some fan his shoes durring the fourth quarter and cant play, long story short, the Bulls lost the game. Ben on the other hand never pulled any dumb stunts and was/is never an attention w****.
It's pointless to debate who's the best center. Sure, it's gratifying if your teams player is the one, but in the long run, it's proven anyway, plus that every top center has his specialty that he's the best at. The most definitive answer as to which player is the best, usually is who's got a ring to prove it. I think even if Yao is now the best(and there's reason to believe he is), he'll not get recognition before wearing one. Much like average/good players that have rings in their collection are overrated.
Because most guys are even shallower... I wonder how many tall men go to clubs and pass themselves off as NBA players to bag ignorant gold diggers?
Rocketfan111 posted some this summer. He's one of these 'attention everyone... look at me' posters. Give no credit to this thread. One star... only because zero is not possible.
Did Bob Sura play in that game? Jordan called him a rookie white boy? Then, in the press conference Jordan called him the toughest player ever? Then Rodman came in a fought him with Pippen. Quit posting.
Unlike some guys, who'd buy as many drinks as the guy wants, and hang on his every word, then rush to let 20,000 fans know what was said. And we love reading it. Not that there's anything wrong with that!!
You remind me of Yao in his 1st 2 seasons Rocketfan111. With input like that, you need to quit lurking around and start boarding. Kindda hard being a Rockets fan in Spurs country isn't it. You must have BIG BRASS ONES to go into a club in downtown SA and proclaim yourself a "diehard Rockets fan".
