Simmons must be kept in context... As a buy out, at Vet min....off the bench. Folks are being disingenuous if they don't acknowledge him to be a great pick up.
I like him, he can still play defense and run pt better than fvv and holiday, him as a back to have that vision to run the offense should help everyone and then amen can also learn some vision from him, since he is the closest comparison to prime ben
Anyway, I'll admit the thought of him kind of playing the Sengun role more than the Fred role is an interesting one--he does do a lot of his damage in similar ways to Alpi, particularly their drive and kick games look similar. In any case, I don't really care whether you think of him more as a frontcourt add or a backcourt add--we need another guy who can generate plays. Amen is too raw, Jalen is too hot-and-cold and scoring focused, and none of the bench players have that kind of court vision. We go into these offensive lulls because our halfcourt playmaking is nearly 100% reliant on two guys, Alpi and Fred, and when one or both of them is off the floor, we only have transition offense. That doesn't cut it, especially at the end of games when things slow down. Are there players I would rather have than weak-minded bad-back Ben? Sure, but we'd probably have had to trade for them, and we didn't. So here we are.
If he's cheap, hell yes I want him on my bench. Yes, he might be one of the worst shooters ever, but he's huge, plays D, and can distribute the ball. Plus he's not even 29 years old yet. If he's not a cancer and can be had cheap, I'd absolutely want him here.
Is he meeting in one location or hitting all 3 cities? If the meeting is in LA, I think you have your answer....
We need an additional playmaker with Fred out week to week. He would also help with rebounding and let us switch 1-5. We really lost that versatility when Jabari got injured and our defense has fallen off as a result.
Simmons and Reed gonna be passing to each other back-and-forth on open shots and get a 24 second violation at least once.
lol finally we agree on something DB been killing us defensiviely and rebounding / lack of athleticism at his position Tari is limping and can’t play back to backs Bari is out Tate is too short and really just a short term energy boost game to game Amen is being ran into ground Jock is trash Adams is as healthy as Tari. If you play him with any four of VanVleet, Green, Brooks, Eason, Sheppard or Jabari Smith Jr. he will be a very useful addition to the team. Also, the last five games have shown the Rockets need another guy that can help run an NBA offense with VanVleet hurt.
