Harden and Embiid with the rest of the Philly roster would’ve been better than KD, Kyrie, and the Nets Morey seriously fcked up he could’ve had Harden Green ? Harris Embiid Harris is overpaid, but as a 3rd option, he’s fine production-wise that’s an easy contender
Morey hoping and praying that Harden leaves and he could finesse a straight up S&T of Simmons for Harden thinking the Nets will take Simmons than be left with nothing Harden Green Thybulle Harris Embiid with Maxey, Curry, Korkmaz, etc off the bench would win a title
That's not a bad team to trade with, they have a lot of young talent and could use a guy like Simmons to help in ball distribution, the only issue is if Simmons will think it's his team and get into an issue with Trey.
I like Nets roster over Phillies just because they have Durrant he is better than Embid, especiaally in the playoffs at crunchtime. Durrant is actually the perfect complement because he is a threat everywhere on the floor and commands just as much attention, none of those other guys really move the needle much for Philly and when you factor in Kyrie even at 70% the Nets are better.
Morey always trying to get cute with his trades. I don't know WTF he was thinking. He should of offered Simmons/Maxey plus 4 unprotected lottery picks. It's almost as if he didn't learn his lesson.
Would Rockets fans do this? The way I see it, we aren't going to be competing any time soon, so might as well cash in on being a willing trade partner although we do get stuck with a toxic contract with an extra year besides Gordon's/Wood's. We do get two minni unprotected picks and one top 10 protected pick from phili for participating. I'd definitely do it.
Don't understand the reports that the Sixers want to try to include Harris in a deal. If 4yrs/30mil wasn't already difficult enough to offload, let's just add another 3 and 40 years to the deal. If Simmons is the distressed asset, I guess that means they think Harris has positive value? Either that or I suppose that's Morey signaling that a 3 team deal is out there for someone who wants Harris but not necessarily Simmons. It's like a flashing sign that says, "Open for Business".
If Morey could unload two horrible contracts (one of them disgruntled) and get back positive assets in one stroke, he would be the GOAT con artist.
I think it's admirable that Morey is trying to extract as much value possible from Simmons in a trade but I this this is starting to become one of those "win the battle, lose the war" situations in Philly. The #1 priority for any competitive org is to win a title and you win titles with elite players. They have already said Simmons is NOT that elite player but to me the longer they waste the prime of Embid (the only elite player they do have) by waiting to turn Simmons into something of value to the team, the longer they are putting the battle ahead of the war. The worst case scenario here is they finish the year off with Simmons sitting out, waste one of Embid's prime years with $30mil sitting at home and claim victory that they didn't lose the Simmons battle(yet). ....also worth noting this is a cautionary tale in treating players like assets - don't sign a player to a long term deal when you don't actually want that player on your roster in the long term. I mean the Sixers put him on trade market in the very first year of his extension - how do you sign a guy to a max multi-year deal and decide he isn't a fit for your franchise less than a year later? I get why they do this to "not lose a player for nothing" but incentivizing teams to treat players like assets is not in anyone's best interest and the Simmons situation AND the potentially the emerging John Collins situation are two reasons why. The NBA needs to create some sort of "commitment" rule that prevents teams from trading players on new contracts within let's say a year and a half or maybe two years of the new contract...or maybe that's working trade clauses in so the player has the ultimate ability to approve their destination in those scenarios. You gotta find some way to change that balance because it's ultimately in the NBA's best interest to have the very best basketball players in the world playing basketball and not sitting at home waiting to be transacted so they can play basketball again.
It makes sense that morey wouldnt want to trade simmons. They lost with him playing so why would you think they have any chance of winning if you traded him for an even worse player?
76ers Have Increased Asking Price For Ben Simmons In Trade Talks Some rival teams have described the asking price of the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons to be "growing in price -- not declining," according to sources that spoke with Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The 76ers are seeking a top-25 caliber player in a return for Simmons, but offers of that quality have yet to materialize. The 76ers don't appear to be anywhere close to executing a trade of Simmons. Simmons continues to express an unwillingness to play for the 76ers.
how does that happen? Asking price gets bigger when Simmons hasn't played and we've seen all his work ethic problems. Does this mean John Wall's trade value is increasing?
