In one of the recent podcast, Bill Simons discussed hypothetical trade with Chicago for Zach Lavine and Ben Simmons straight up. I think that may be a real possibility if 76ers cant get Dame from Portland.

Warriors, Spurs, Wolves Among Teams Interested In Trade For Ben Simmons

The Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams who have discussed a trade for Ben Simmons with varying degrees of interest, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.

The 76ers haven't progressed far with a trade of Simmons as they likely view him as their path to a trade for Damian Lillard.

Simmons appears to be the only All-Star player truly available via trade as Lillard and Bradley Beal haven't signaled a preference to be dealt.

Simmons is a two-time All-NBA Defensive First Team selection and three-time All-Star. Last season, Simmons averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 32.4 minutes per game.

Based on Morey demands, they would have to trade Fox + 4 unprotected FRPs. Doesn't seem like a good idea for them.

Yeah, how many times has Morey robbed the Kings over the years!

Ben in GS makes a lot of sense. That way he doesn't have to develop a shot at all. He can just set screens, grab rebounds, maybe a few put-backs, and call it a day while Curry and the gang carry him to victory.

Plus he gets to live in Cali. Easy win.

not if Draymond and Simmons are both there. That's a horrible mix as far as balance on the floor when they're on the court at the same time

Only way Philly ends up with Dame is if they loop in a third team to take Ben. I can't imagine Portland wanting to take back Ben since trading Dame signals a rebuild for them. And you've also got to think any third team getting involved in this would most likely rather have Dame than Ben. Perhaps a 3-way with Toronto, Portland, and Philly could work where Siakam goes to Portland, Dame to Philly, and Ben to Toronto?

There is also a potential pathway through the Pelicans. Pelicans would need to send out 4 FRPs, probably a couple of theirs unprotected a couple of the Lakers picks. The Sixers also send out a couple of picks in the process unprotected, these all go to Portland. Pelicans receive Ben Simmons and 76ers receive Lillard. Portland receives 6 FRPs total which is a damn good haul for Lillard.

That's a damn good rebuild situation for Portland there. They would have to take a couple of contracts from Pelicans, not sure who yet, but I'm sure that could be worked out.

They could then ship out CJ and Nurkic if they wanted to go the full rebuild route. Very doable.

Why would Chicago do that though?

Apparently Lavine wants max contract extension and Chicago may not want to commit to it...

It makes zero sense though. They plan to make Ball a shooting guard? lol.

Yeah, Draymond can do everything Ben can do and better, and cheaper. Simmons in GS is redundant.

They committed a lot of money to Ball and co fas and also traded for Vucevic to build around Lavine. Makes zero sense theyd then trade their best player Lavine for Simmons lol

Simmons is becoming untradeable -- price is way too high now for a player who is not a scoring. 4 unprotected first round picks + a star, nope. Do not want, especially after the way Ben played in the Playoffs. He's good player, but price is way too high. If he were closer to a 20-10 line, I'd be more trigger happy. But, he's not close to that and a terrible shooter.

The Wolves make the most sense, so do Kings. Though, Fox is off limits by any measure.

Call me crazy but I rather have a maxed out Lavine over a maxed out (and soon to be eligible for ANOTHER extension) Simmons.

You are not crazy. I’m getting closer to throwing my phone or laptop against the wall the next time I read someone on here proposing a trade for him.

Sacramento has 3 starting point guards in Fox, Haliburton, and now Davion Mitchell all 23 and under. That roster needs a shake-up. Disperse that talent to some other positions.
